360 help

I've been trying 360s a lot lately and have the same problem every time...I can spin 180 off anything but when I finally hit a jump that i think i could pull a 3 off of I just end up throwing a huge 180

It feels like the back of my skis catch on the lip and don't allow me to continue with the spin...does that mean i'm spinning too soon or what?

I just really wanna progress and this is holding me back a ton...plus I can never seem to land angled down the landing...like I'm leaning too far back...

thanks in advance!

It's kinda hard to explain properly I think, but when doing 360s, ride the kicker up and don't rush on popping. Then when you are in the right point where you should pop, pop and turn your shoulders to the directions where you normally spin. and for the back-leaning problem; ride the kicker up in peace and then pop straight up, and maybe lean a bit forward, depending on the steepness of the landing.

It's probably because you spin the 180 and then look back at the jump as opposed to keeping your head turned. What you should do is pop off the jump, then start spinning and keep your head turned, aim for your chin to be right over your shoulder. your body will follow where youre looking. stay balanced when in the air, if you lean back, then obviously youll land on your tails. But if u pop and keep chin over shoulder, you should stay balanced and complete the 360.

The thing that really helped me land my 360's was looking over my shoulder (throughout the spin) so my chin would just about touch my shoulder and also tuck my knees which helped keep my skis together. Also leaning forward a bit helped greatly.

When you do 180s you teach yourself to turn your head the wrong direction as soon as you start spinning. Your body follows your head, so this will stop your spin at 180. Its a really hard habit to break. I always try to look back at the lip of the jump - this helps prevent your head from turning the wrong way. As soon as you see the lip, keep looking hard over your shoulder for the landing.

Another important thing is to not look down at the jump when you're about to spin. This will help you not land backseat.

-Go up to the lip of the jump with your knees bent, feet shoulder width apart, and your shins pressed against your ski boots. Also make sure your shoulders are relaxed. -Pop and turn your head slightly over your shoulder. Also, when you pop- you do not need to wind up like a top. I used to do this and now it's just useless. All it does is throws you off-axis.

-Keep the spin going in midair. Don't move your head from it's turned position until you see your landing. You will know where you are in the air.

-Once you see the landing, you will be pleasantly surprised. Or at least I was when I stomped my first clean one.

Good luck!

Throw a 180 a little harder/earlier and then look over your shoulder. It will feel a little unnatural at first and you might have a little difficulty putting the landing gear down clean, but the more you try em the easier they'll come!

spread your legs before the jump and spread your arms, then throw really hard and youll either get a 3 or bigger. otherwise you can carve into the jump..if you spin left then go from the bottom left corner of the jump to the top right and use your arms a little. and the opposite if you spin right. hope it helps, good luck!

Remember to pop when you take off the jump. Also try to balance is air and dont lean back! when you are finishing your rotation look over your shoulder and spot your landing!

lean back, pop a little, and look over your shoulder. kinda just imagine landing forwards too, i found that helped when i was learning to land a 3 (also when i was learning to 5) off a big jump. if you think about the fact that you've been spinning 1s, chances are you will. imagine yourself landing forwards and that might help it a little bit in addition to all the great advice up there ^

NEVER LOOK DOWN. You will wash or not commit if you do. Continue to look over your shoulder. For the longest time I would get to 270 and wash because I was starting to spot my landing too soon.

Don't worry about where you are in the air, you will naturally be able to tell.

Also, one of the keys for me is keeping my feet actually a tiny bit wider than shoulder width on takeoff. Then while in the air naturally let your skis come towards each other. (Don't squish them just let it be natural) This helps with spinning consistently for me.

well if your throwing huge ones of those jumps then its really simple...just follow though on your 180 look around and spot the landing and then all the rest is in the hips just twist around and commit to fully getting around wort thing you can do is land 90 short that sucks haha

Your body will always follow your head. Backflips, 3s, 5s, and so on. just keep looking and get small in the air. I think the easiest way to keep your head and shoulders committed is to mute grab with the opposite hand. So if you spin to the left, use your right hand. You got this.

This is a really big problem on most failed attempts at 360s. The sagging actually effects you leg stance so that when brought down to knee it brings your legs closer together providing a proper stance for your steezey 3. Always sag to knee level. To compensate for such sagging you must wear a very long shirt, preferably saga or jibberish. The way you look helps you so much in skiing.

But I hope you get those 360s around. When i first did them, I didnt know that you had to pop and would just start spinning. My skis would be so far behind me and i would somehow whip them around or just land 270 and die.

i find whenever i try something that scares me i catch on the lip, Im not sure if its the same for you, but just stop over thinking it, come up to the lip, and just throw it

i had that same exact problem. what helped me was to go off the jump on both of your skis' inside edges. that helps you to set the spin properly and then you'll be able to have the momentum now. just look for your shoulder from there and keep every twisted until you get the 360. you might land and revert, but then fine tuning will prevent that and all you can do there is just practise and figure it out yourself.
