360 cameras, next big thing in skiing?

If you don't know what 360 cameras are, check this out

pretty much its a camera that captures 360 degrees, so you can see all around. Really cool to check out on a smartphone as when you move the phone, the view changes accordingly. ABM recently posted that he's sponsored by a 360 camera company, could this be the next go pro?

Personally I think this would be cool in a big park where everywhere you look there's a pro skier doing something amazing. A company should get on this idea

Lol i guess i am, but seeing now as they're much more available (You can get a helmet mount one for around$400 i believe) i feel like they'll likely be used much more often

works best on mobile imo, wherever you move your phone, the screen moves. if you haven't experienced it its tripy as FUCK.

are you viewing it correctly? i know it doesn't work on some browsers, makes it look like a super stretched out panorama. otherwise i think its pretty dope if you have it setup right

Sorry, I actually didn't watch the video you embedded, was just thinking about the reference to ABM's video. I think it looks half okay in the shark video you embedded but the Dew Tour 360 sponsor's camera looks ugly to me.

I think the video I've been seeing from people using 360fly just looks ridiculous (in a bad way).... It's probably one of those things that just never quite catches on, much like 3D TV.

the same thing was said about the computer and the telephone, i think those caught on pretty well (Not trying to compare the 360 camera to a computer or telephone, but you get what i mean)

Still, its a completely different experience than a video, maybe itll be a seperate thing in the future, but videos will always exist.

Exactly. Really though we have no idea whether or not it will catch on or not, if anything it will lead to another technology thats even more mind-blowing. either way its a step into the future and well all have to just wait and see what happens

In terms of skiing i think its just a fad. Ya the footage is kinda cool but i can't see it being used that well in edits and stuff like that. Really cool gadget but i would never actually use it for anything other than footage for myself.
