Is type 3+ even a thing ? Will a shop calculate my din with 3+ skier type or will 3 be the max ?

also is riding din at lowest bad for me ?

If youre 3+ you know how to set your own dins.

Just get them mounted and ride where you are set, if you are having pre-release issues then reevaluate

What do you mean by “riding din at the lowest”? Do you mean riding what the shop sets them at? Or do you mean riding at the lowest din setting your bindings offer? My $.02 on both:

- ride at what the shop sets until you prerelease. No need for ego to kick in when your knees are on the line. Most injuries i see are when people dont come out of their skis when they should. If you ski a lot of big mountain stuff, maybe you will want dins a little higher, but doesnt hurt to test it out for a day or 2.

- it is a myth that its bad for the spring to be at the lowest/highest setting. The manufacturer adds a little leeway on either end for the spring, so if its a pivot 18, its safe to ride at 8.

If you’re asking this question on this forum you’re definitely not 3+, just pick 3 and give the shop an accurate height and weight and go with whatever their machine calculates your din at. As said above, if you start having pre-release issues then you should re-evaluate.

Ye riding at let’s say 8 (lowest din setting) on a p18. Cause some shops say it’s fine but some say no

You will be fine at 7. Heres another thread confirming it. To quote OneNerdyKid-

"The only risk you run being at the very start of the DIN range is if you lose weight, get a bigger boot, drop down an ability level, etc. basically anything that causes your release value to go down, you won't be able to with this binding."

Will someone explain to me wtf are skier types? Is it just like beginner, advanced, expert or what

exactly- beginner, intermediate, advanced, expert. Its the system that Americans use to determine din settings on rentals- If you check "type 2" (intermediate) on the form when renting or mounting skis, they will set the dins lower than if you select type 3.

So basically if my din stays at 7 or goes up I’m fine

We have forms you fill out and then they set your dins and tech the binding to you based on your self-described ability and size. 3+ is expert skier essentially
