270's off boxes +K

I was trying to do FS 270's off the box at my mountain and everytime I'd attempt one I'd go off balance and wouldnt spin. Is it possible to 270 off without digging in with your heel, because if I don;t slide the box on the edge I can't dig with my heel.

Also on rails, my skis always slide out from under me, do I need to lean forward more when I first get on the rail?

For rails, just look at the end of the rail the WHOLE time, put a bit more pressure on your front foot.

270s will come eventually

when you get on the box try to get on it from the side and widen your stance on the rail also pop and THEN turn once your off the lip.

and to prevent from sliding out just have ur knees bent when poping and stay centered

Look right at the end of the rail or box to slide the whole thing. Stay low and put some pressure on the front foot.

Get this down and 270's will start coming easy.

ya bro just grip on those 270s and keep your head and shoulders movin. for rails just spread your legs a little to stay balenced.

Concentrate on butter, or whatever your favorite food/music is.

Oh and you probably should butter before you spin out, that might help to.

when you get on the box, lock on with your front foot to set the rotation, look towards the end, and get BUCK

when i do them i just slide, look forward to the end of ur rail then at the end i like to edge in the box with my downhill foot then lean alot forward, then wind up ur shoulders, after jump with ur main momentum on your front/downhill foot and spin...if your having problems spinning full i just try to 450 then ill eather over spin it or stomp the 270!

hit the whole box how u normally would at the end get the edge of your front ski then stick it into the end of the box which will throw you into your 2 sev out turn your head, spot your landing, stomp, repeat until its dialed.

so? if 2 people give the same advice i'd be more likely to take it

also OP honestly gripping/spinning out is a lot easier on rails have you tried that?

rails, look down the hill. helps you see where your going rather than worrying about your feet. I found a wider stance, spreading your legs apart, helps alot too.
270's I am still working on as well. just keep working hard man and it will come! I am right there with you.

I personally think they're easier off of flat bars than boxes. Just keep looking for your landing and you'll get them eventually

towards the end of the box start looking over the shoulder of the direction you want to spin and then pop and swing legs around

a 270 off is actually really easy once you get the feeling right. practise sliding the rail with your front edge running on the edge of the rail. ie. the back ski should be flat but the front ski should be digging into the "heel side" of the rail....if that makes any sense. that motion will stop you rotating further around than you need to. eg. if you slide left foot forwards like i do your left ski digs into the rail to stop you rotating further to the right (end eventually to a switch position).
if you're doing it on a box (assuming you're sliding left foot first) make sure you try to land on the left side of the box. sort of imagine the other side of it isnt there. its the side of the box you need to get the rotation.
when you get to the end of the rail/box with your front ski setting the rotation you can pop up and spin off it. at first i popped more with my back ski and used the front one just to set the rotation but it becomes more natural over time and the feeling of riding out switch gets better and better.
i suppose the main thing is to get used to sliding the rail/box with the edge digging in rather than just on two flat bases...if that helps..

i had the same problem for quite a while then some guy told me just to lean forward and still keep my balance centered then just dont snap your heel back quickly progress it try going a whole rail with your heel further back and then it will come easy

ok i know it sounds stupid, but it actually helps. Before you try it, just picture yourself stomping it perfectly with mega-steeze. Then when you do it, try to be as steezy as possible-afterbang and all. It sounds dumb but if you just try it it helps you really go for it.

When you say "digging in", do you mean putting pressure on the edge or actually using your edge to pull against the rail?

I find blind 270s off much easier than FS. Right as you get to the end of the box, lift the heel on your front foot while keeping the area under your toes planted. This will set your spin, next, look over your shoulder and twist your upper body just a little bit. If you've done that right it should all just happen as you leave the end of the box.

its kind of hard to describe without being super technical. say you're sliding left foot first. the inside edge of the left ski gets angled against the edge of the box or rail so that it gives you some purchase to set the rotation. so yeah, you're putting pressure on it to push yourself back around to a left side rotation...although not quite that far yet. as i said, doing this locks you into a much better position from which you can eventually 270 out from.

just look at the end of the rail the whole time, and at the end set the rotation with your upper body/ head, it's all about where you're looking, your skis will follow. Good luck bro

If you're struggling with digging your heel in, try to put more weight on your front foot and then pop off that, if your still struggling with combining that with a 270 then just try digging your heel in without trying a 270.

first off, searchabrsecondly, there's a cult for thisthirdly, ummm just jump and spin like the guy said above common sense...
