22/23 trends

lots more kids 14-18 y/o filming with handycams and making capeesh type edits.

every kid gonna have either capeesh or harlaut apparel.

more euro focus than ever

mostly dude, i think this year will be kinda boring for trends. we are at such an apex of trends that i think it will be a little stale now. we have too many people making outerwear, indie skibrands are popping up left and right and the normies have started to catch up to the hipsters (or what you may call them). only the serious ones that really make a name for themselves will survive.

i also predict that montec/dope will make another outerwear company to try to stay relevant once again.

This is less of a prediction and more of a hope, but social media, especially Instagram and tiktok will hopefully become less and less relevant to skiing.

You want the sport to die off completely?

Why do people care how they look so much? I was at trollhougens rail jam it was like 65 degrees and people were in there full winter gear, like WHY if it's warm enough I just wear Jeans to ski I'm not gonna sweat in my pants just to "look good" because 90% of the time I look shit skiing anyway. You don't need 300$ of pants to have fun out there I have a free coat some pants from when dad was in college and some 50$ atomic boots and I'm having a great time

Lmao I'm just excited for the season I wanted to wear my pants and a hoodie so it felt real

Elan will probably become the new trendy skis and only Jerrys will be buying Vishnus. Skinny ski pants and thight jackets will probably be popular among the core park skiers. I think that the helmets with the googles attach to them uou just fell down the googles will be popular. Also telemark will become a big factor in the freestyle scene

I got some inside information that the freestyle elite is gonna switch to cross country skis because its more of a challenge to do a triple cork on them

Using more film cameras. Like legit ones they used to film movies with back in the day. Just cause I see it being done in snowboarding a lot. take Bender by Colton Feldman for example.

skiing tends to follow snowboarding a lot

YAY more people looking like absolute inbreds!! Personally fucking hate gogs over. Only one who can really pull it off is BMack, DJ and Sam can too I guess but it will always look sus.

i think this shit does not matter at all if you have style and are good at skiing

I think 4k servo will become more popular like what Ecook, P Ring, and the bunch are on. Especially since everyone and their mom has a P2 cam now

Seems like longer poles in the park are making a comeback. Not really sure why and not a fan

Tiktok will surpass Instagram in influence for social media skiing.

You will see lots of Revy/Whis/BC ski media now that Canada dropped vaccine requirements for travelers.

More of a currently/this fall/next summer thing, but lift expansions, lots of new lifts, we have tons of visitations, tons of profits, and tons of lift lines. I also heard a rumor that there is a sizable backlog for high-speed quads from Leitner-Poma (?) rn, like if you order one today, it *might* be ready before the 23/24 ski season

Simple ski graphics like Season and 1000 on the up for sure. On another note we will likely see a few new brands soon as well.

I wanna say ski podcasts will continue to get more popular.

I think at some point there will be a big pushback on heli-skiing, and specifically all the pro's we see advocate against climate change while having a ridiculous personal carbon footprint. Also just generally people flying a ton, and possibly maybe excessive use of carbon fiber but thats the least likely

Female-specific ski films, crews, skis, etc definitely getting bigger and more common.

Some sort of drama involving Howell Ski Bindings/Knee bindings/Tyrolia Protector and ACLs.

Finally my hottest take of all is Tanner Hall will be investigated for tax evasion

I agree with this if were only talking about the general case but in reality its totally dependant on the person doing it. I think my fav ski edits are way more sick than anything else but its rare that someones got the sauce like that in this sport.

Spinning isnt a cool trick imo. Ollies, nollies, shifties, presses are cool. Spins are more of a compliment of a trick than a trick themselves. Idk why ppl don’t do legit presses on rails I feel like they must be impossible if noone does them but imma try to learn this szn and give an update lol

Definitely not stealing this idea from [tag=224147]@Young_patty[/tag] . Haven’t seen this thread been made yet for this year so if it’s already out there mods please delete. Call out what you think will rise to the top… tricks, riders, clothing choices, etc.

I think Gilson is gonna continue to lose its negative reputation of being “cringe” on here

Hate to say it but I think you’re gonna see more people doing Instagram street mini-cuts with the evident rise of street skiing

peak of wide pants

rise of homemade jackets, just like there’s a rise of homemade pants

lets hear your predictions

Little kids on vishnus

Doing a legit tailpress kinda makes my knees sore. I love nose pressing through a dfd particularly with a lip on. I'm not the best at it though, so I've never tried to film one

More technical outerwear in the park as skiers start to pick up on the street trend of Arc'Teryx/ Gore tex. Also more cotton than ever in the park.

More fruit being eaten on the mountain

Bandanas hanging out of back pockets make a comeback especially with wide pant enthusiasts

Increasing numbers of people stowing a backpack on the hill for the day.

I don’t dislike moment, they make cool skis, but yes. R/skiing is starting to really push them hard now too..

Its a hypebeast ski now. I mean, realistically, any good ski brand will one day hit that point. Good for them. Now make the prices cheaper lol

This has already been common at Grouse and COP for a few years

This is mostly caused by camera nerds getting into film. Might not catch on much though because very few of your average edit makers will deal with the hassle, expense and waiting involved with shooting actual film. But I do love to see it!

Cam Riley was shooting B-roll on film years ago but not much of the action itself.

more cotton

more skiers wearing skate brands e.g. dime

pants start thinning out (maybe)

less helmets, more buzzcuts and hair dye

arc'teryx

weed peaks

more edits with ny sample drill

race boots

I hope the full tilt design k2 boot dies the fuck out garbage ass boot and it’s just a gimmick

People will put their hands in boots and do runs in full hand stands.

Extra long poles.

Ski ballet onto rails

either really cheap thrift store pants with some expensive jacket

2 p 2’s are slowly dying off

pretzel back slide tricks are going to viewed as the holy trick

return to the early 2000’s nu-metal/ punk style for sure

skull candy icons will be coming back

long ski poles in the park

less spins and slower rotations on big features and really steezing it out

2 on to sw will be coolest shit

skiing faster will be more popular kinda like oski style

arsenic will continue to grow and make awesome shit

gilson will get more respectable

Army pants are on the come up

I got a feeling like fitted caps are coming back again goes back to the early 2000’s style shit every one is going to ski like they are snowboarding

child labor and zootspace are going to continue to inspire

vx cameras are going to become more impossible to find as every kid wants to become zootspace and child labor

ski bum culture is coming back

more edits with skate and skiing in them

686 will be like the new saga

goggles are going to become a lot more popular in the park

home made pants are going to improve in quality dramatically as they stray away from using cheap nylon and rather better waterproof materials that don’t tare after one fall

harlaut apperal will still be fiend over

more feel good edits like forte for arsenic will be coming out

lmk what you guys think

They kind of did but they had huge growth as a brand. They built a strong dealer network and their top sheets really stand out on the wall compared to all the Canva looking designs from major brands. I love my Moments and they seem like good people so I'm not complaining.

I would hope the kids who fit them are using race boots.

Signed, a guy whose feet just do not agree with Full Tilts

-u dumb fucks will continue to wear anything except for actual ski gear because "u wanna be different"

-clown pants will continue to grow in size

-tutipups will continue making the most retarded threads of all time

-i will continue to snowboard and prank skiers because i wear normal ski gear

22/23 people will smoke on the middle of the groomed runs and people will exclusively ski trees.

Here are my predictions, many of which are the same as some of other people's predictions:

- baggy pants will indeed start approaching a saturation point (considering the prevalence of harlaut pants)

- more people start wearing tighter/more fitted pants but still a small minority

- more people hitting street

- more arcteryx

- arsenic continues to grow in popularity

- even less SD, more HD (hvx, hmc, etc)

- long poles in the park

- people continue to chase clout on instagram

- more tiktok style content on insta (short videos all using the same popular songs), not necessarily more tiktoks

- less one-foot combos

There’s a couple people mentioning this and I chose your comment since it was first. I think this will absolutely be a thing. Did anyone else notice how some Oakley athletes were wearing goggles over during the Olympics?

My take - you can’t read the name as easily with goggles under so sponsors will push it/pay for you to wear over aka seconds on the screen with their logo

14466884:keagan.karstens said:
-lastly, I hate to say it but goggles over, dudes like Sam lobinsky and durham Jones make it look pretty fire and I wouldn’t be surprised if more people hop on it.

My take, helmets plastered with any and every sticker you can get your hands on. The more wrinkles the better.

also Arc or other high end technical outerwear with huge pants. Also sweaters in pre or post szn conditions, Knit or fleece. Poles are back but make sure to swing em
