2021 Faction Durability Improved?

Looking at getting likely the CT 3 but am hesitant due to their reputation. I know people who have snapped the 2019 3's who werent that heavy. Does anyone have experience with the 2021 (blue) version and can speak to its durability? They say they've added metal, the topsheet is different so it shouldn't chip and they supposedly changed the manufacturing plant. I really like the idea of the skis but if they're really not improved durablility wise from past years I dont want to have to deal with that. I've only seen people complain about the prior years (2020, 2019 etc.) but not sure if thats just because theyre new.

As [tag=271284]@anders_a[/tag] and myself have said it the other thread, the 2021 Faction skis have almost no comparison build quality wise to the previous versions. The 3.0 gained almost 300 grams going from the 2020 version to the 2021 version in the same width. Heavier, damper, stronger wood core and using better materials with techniques to prevent damage that are pressed in one of the worlds best ski manufacturing plants.

Think they are now having the opposite problem as the 1.0 and 2.0 are so beefy and well built, they are dropping the 2nd metal titanal sheet above the edges that was put in for rail abuse and putting in a weave of lighter carbon fiber instead for 2022. The 3.0 has metal in the binding area for retention but so did the previous versions but they had wimpy cores so they still had issue.

What length did you need of the 3.0 because I paid WAY LESS than your link above. I paid about $400 US for mine from a Revelstoke dealer who had Spring sales on the 184cm size. Did the email register thing too for 10% additional discount and got them for $495 CAN although I’m not sure if they ship to the US.

Yeah I checked on the Revelstoke dealer, thanks for the link. What bindings do you have on yours? I'm used to Marker Griffon 13's and am wondering if 110's would fit on the 112 underfoot or if I would have to get 115s. I've also heard Pivots are more likely to rip out on previous models.

110 marker fits perfect, I have it on mine, no bending required. I have jester 16's on mine, and [tag=249646]@Greg_K[/tag] has attack's on his.

and yes, the 2021 is beefy enough to run pivots, while 2020 was not.

The pivot heel has a super narrow mount not spreading the load.

I’ve got Attack13s with 110 brake on mine but any binding including Pivots would be fine. Beefy core and metal in that area now. Have the 110 brake on my 118mm Wildcats so they have lots of room.

if you can fit your skis in a single pic you need more skis

Some of us actually sell the skis once I get new ones unlike some people.....lol

The 3.0 were pair 31 within the last 8 years for me but I could quit anytime.........

At 5 pairs now with the Deacon 84 which is perfect for my “keep it at 4-6 pairs” preference.

Looks like that site is actually sold out of the 184's. No chance you would be interested in getting rid of yours?

That’s too bad that pair is gone! Evo still has stock but not on their Spring deals yet so maybe contact them to maybe see when they are going on sale?

Did you ever get a pair? Just saw this pair listed online out West in Canada for $500 CAN with bindings. Not sure if the mark above the faction logo on the right ski is a cut on the base or just a weird reflection so maybe get another pic of that area if interested in them. Good luck!
