2017/2018 On3p Thread

Finally going to cop some Billygoats. Can't imagine how long they will last if I use them primarily in powder. K108's have held up amazing in midwest crud.

Ugh this thread again.. ;)

Interested in the Steeple 116 or BG for my tour ski next year. If all goes well, pretty sure I'm gonna get an actual tour set up. Tech binders and everything.

What is the biggest difference between BG and S116?

Just a tour layup and slightly different tail? Man I really wanna try out the new BG/Steeple shape.

Also, just and idea, but I think a thinner, more job oriented version of the C+D would be sick.

Ahhh, you beat me to it.

Finally retiring my old, beat, tanks of a ski called the Jeffrey 122 as my do everything (do work) ski this season. Next year is looking fresh!

Hello new Billy Goats, and hello Kartel 108s!

May as well try and get the lady on a Jessie 98 as well.

I'm definitely looking to snag a pair of the wrenegade 108's or kartel 108's. Both of them look fantastic.

I think if you're going pure tour with the setup, go Steeple 116. BGs are HEAVY. IMO, I'd go for a 108 as a tour setup given that it'd be lighter and still able to ski 99.9% of the stuff you would take a 116 out in.

I'm thinking the same thing. Need a replacement for an everyday ripper.

I've been on a few pairs of ON3Ps and I've been so satisfied I'd buy a pair without even selling them lol

Does anyone know the reason they changed their release schedule?

My guess would be to spread out their demand, they hand make all their skis so it's probably easier being able to make and ship orders throughout the whole summer, without having to make them and sell out right when their line drops and play catch up the whole winter

We're not a publically traded company who has to worry about fitting in ski sales at the end of a fiscal year with half the ski season still left, and we don't believe it is healthy for the industry to be putting out new products that are unavailable for 8 months while right in the middle of the current year's product cycle. As such, you will see us shift more and more to a product cycle that makes sense for a brand our size, rather than the one dictated by a 20 year old, outdated business model.

Glad everyone is liking the skis for next year!

Thanks! Love seeing personal insight from people inside the industry.

I've been able to put a few days on my 16/17 Billy's and I'm blown away. I owned the 15/16 Billy's and they felt very awkward at first but the 16/17's kickass in so many different conditions. Definitely diggin the changes.

At this point I'm used to people asking me hundreds of questions about my skis but every single lift ride I took on Tuesday turned into a Q&A session about the skis and company in general. I love riding skis that everyone takes an immediate interest in.

I recently sold my 15/16 wren 112's to my roommate and he fell in love instantly. He's never skied with such confidence and it's amazing how happy he is. I know why there hasn't been a demo in Tahoe but damn I would do dirty things to have some skis down here for folks to try out.

Will there be any hats or shirts for sale this year? My hat and T-shirt are both worn out to the max and I love walkin down the street and having people stare at my shirt while they try to pronounce the name.

Overall you guys fuckin rock and I seriously couldn't be any happier with my skis. Definitely taking a shop tour this spring when I'm up that way.

Clothing would be neat!

Magnus, Kartel 98, Kartel 116 = greatest quiver of all time. I can't think of anything you can't do on that.

Still pumped that the Wren 88 and 98 became a reality, people on the east coast kept asking for something like that and they rip so hard. I don't know why people were so afriad of the 102s, but they kept asking for a 98 and I would always think "you know that's only 4mm smaller, right?"

I can attest to that, except I'm on jefferey 114's still.

Can anyone explain the differences when they switched from Jeffrey to k116

The K116 has a tip and tail shape, along with new straight taper, that makes it float and smear better in soft snow than the J114 did. It also has an updated rocker profile that is more gradual and elongated, with a slightly lower tail for stability at speed.

Both are fun skis, but we felt the K116 was the next progression for something that is used in Powder and post-pow, more than not, at that width.

We are very happy with the K116 and why you see it back next year, unchanged, other than graphic update.

Didnt feel like making a brand new thread so ill just post here. Does anyone know how the kartel 98's break in? I just got a used pair that had seen very little park and were in great condition. I got them mounted at true center and they are pretty stiff. Will they become more playful over time?

Yes.. took me close to a full season before my Kartel 106s really broke in fully. But they are more fun the more you ride them because of the bamboo.

Know it's the 2018 thread but I'll ask here:

Anyone played around with mount point on Jeffrey's (specifically 114, but I'd imagine OG and Kartel 116 respond similarly).

On the line the only way to go? How about 1, 2 cm behind the line?

Debating whether it's worth mounting these with attack demos, or just do STH2 16s on the line. Both are options

Permanent place in the quiver.

I tore apart my Jeffrey 122s the other day, and miss them so. I've been looking at the Cease and Desist as a replacement.

It has similar dimensions to the Jeffrey, and I'm a big fan of the 193.

How do they compare?

Not even close to the same kind of ski. That being said. The K116 is better than the Caylor/Jeffery in that size ever was.

Compared to the Billy Goat? I've owned both.

BG is more so my style, big mountain charger and all. But the Jeffrey's had the float and play factor.

Different than the BG obviously. I spent 4 years on BG's and the last 2 on K116. I honestly could own both. With the BG getting the nod when conditions are hovering near freezing, and tracked out.

I think the K116 still has the float, and playfulness of the Jeffery, but with a better overall design that is better in the crud.

Maybe in the future we will get a C&D a little slimmed down with a BG rocker profile. That would be hot.

Yes please. Not sure what role it would fill in a quiver, but hey, who ever said overlap was a bad thing? ;)

What are you guys getting from the 2018 lineup?

I want a pair of BG/Steeple 116, but that probably won't happen since I'm a broke boy.

But maybe it will.

wouldnt go that fat for a tour ski...considering 80 percent of our touring out here includes corn. youlle just be carrying weight.

get the regular BG with alpine bindings and a separate tech setup...steeple 108

yeah Ill probably not get either.. dont need to spend any more money. Might be going in a different direction for my quiver as well. I am constantly re-evaluating my quiver at times lol.

Same hahha it's always shifting. Just take what fits your bill and comes your way...no need to be too rigid

Pretty much... probably gonna try to find some used ONeP. Really cant justify spending full price for a tour set up since thats only a fraction of my days.

Whatever.. I have til next winter to figure it out.

Would anyone be interested in some older 14/15 kartels in fucking insain shape like so fresh no core shots and probably the dopest top sheet they have made IMO PM me for more info and picks, they have look pivots on em that I would only sell if he price is right

Anyone from the factory want to talk about the difference in the customs when it comes to using less carbon or the softer 19oz glass?

Thanks!

ill buy them back off you

if you go softer fiberglass and softer carbon, how much a difference does it actually make?

Looking at getting a pair of kartel 108s to replace my 106's that i sold and I LOVED how they skied after 3 seasons of riding. They charged through anything i took them through and i was able to butter them how i wanted. But I want something just as playful out of the box. My biggest concern is with taking that stiffness out of the ski, am I going to lose a lot of that power and stability going through chop and chunder? It'll be a do it all ski, deep days in utah when im out there, whatever "pow" days we get at home as well as trips up to NH and VT, fat park ski, and something i can haul ass on groomers with. But im just loooking for that same playfulness I had with my broken in kartels.
