They revealed the new wrx today and all in all its a pretty cool little car. Switched to a 6 speed, direct injection, and went back to the 2.0L turbo. Basically the same motor in the BRZ but turbocharged now. Disappointing that they discontinued the wagon though. Here is a few links:

yeah i wasn't too happy either, i've always liked the wagons much better, so whatever ass hat made that decision should be fired. I guess they want it to be in their "sporty" line and must not think the wagon is sporty enough.

Yea I agree. This is why I hate and never will buy japanese or korean cars. For the most part, they are the copy cats of the automotive world. Always trying to copy the german, swedish, euro, even american look with something that is clearly crappier and cheaper.

That being said, the wrx is a pretty sick car all in all for what you get compared to what you pay for. If this version isnt faster than the old one they totally fucked up considering it looks awful.

I would love to see an awd ford focus car compete with this

seriously this thing is fucking lame. not ugly, just boring. looks like a camry or any other mid-class sedan nowadays. the roof scoop is even boring

its too bad that this didnt work out. its an earlier concept, theyre pretty similar but a bit more aggressive and i think it looks way better than what they released.

really? my very basic forester has got me all over the country multiple times..kills it in the snow and dirt, and was my sleeping area for the whole summer in hood...at no point have I ever thought my subaru was shit...you seem like a typical biased statistic

Learn the history of the car. The WRX/ STI will always be a sedan. The hatchback was just a bastardization that started in '08.

The STI hatchback was introduced in the U.S. in '08, the wrx has always had a wagon associated with it since the debut in '02 in the U.S. And if you look into the japanese market there has always been WRX/STI wagon along with the sedan and coupe. So your statement is ignorant, and some people enjoy the wagon just as much if not more than the sedan.

Wow it doesnt look aggressive at all anymore, which sucks....

the lack of wagon means a no go for me.

Japanese cars are well made. They copy the germans alot, but most jap cars are reliable and relatively good value

That back end is the part that is killing me! I think the car could look pretty good if they swapped that weird Mercedes swoop back line in the back, that part makes the car just go blehh. That car would look magnificent with a wagon rear end. Take that swoop away pleez

Come to think of it, most sedans these days look extremely similar.

-big front end

-thin headlights

-lots of horizontal lines/edges

- and look very boxy

They're all going for the muscle car look, but since they aren't actually muscle cars, it's really lame. It's not a terrible look IMO though. At least were done with all the consumer sedans looking like this:

Hmm, lets see.

Subaru got rid of the wagon, and replaced it with the Levorg which hasn't even been anounced to ever make it to North America

For all markets other than Euro and Japanese, they're running a revised EJ25 platform, even in the STis, while those lucky two get an FA20DIT.

STi is coming in a sloshbox automatic option

The front end is okay, but the rear end is horrendous, huge interior improvement.

It looks like Subaru ate a Camry, a Lexus IS, a Taurus, shot some testosterone, then pooped out this thing with a Subaru badge.

IMHO, Subaru North America is shitting the bed right now. *Hopefully* us in NA will get a more aggressive facelift and a boosted FA motor by 2017. Subaru has usually made some kind of statement in the body style (Think GDA, GDC bodies. The bugeye was WEIRD and the Hawkeye was far more aggressive than most performance cars in 2006) and we've been dealing with the same engine platform that is extremely inefficient at producing power under boost and is notoriously unreliable with more boost/modifications past Stage II. Don't get me wrong, I love my EJ20G and it's a ton of fun to drive, especially with a TD05 @ 16psi in a GC chassis, but lets put this in perspective: we have literally had the same engine since 1993 in the WRX and STi plus or minus .2 or .5 of a litre of displacement.

Without a new motor, or other significant changes to the drivetrain, the WRX and STi have been falling straight downhill since 2007.

they made a wagon for the new one its hideous. the new headlights are close to being the same as an evo x. 06-07 model will be my favorite

I like it a lot. I think it's a good progression from the current model. I'm interested in what the STI will look like and if it will be more aggressive.
