2013 Ski and Snowboard Show

yeah but at the end of the day you're being charged to go and buy ski gear. years ago there was at least some good entertainment. just whip into shops right now. they'll have the same deals but more selection

One of the many problems with Toronto ski shops (at least those downtown) is that they refuse to sell bindings separately from skis. Several shops last winter wouldn't let me buy bindings, they insisted I buy a "package" that included bindings and skis. Ridiculous.

As for popping into a shop... most shops aren't even selling ski gear right now. Sign of The Skier is selling patio furniture or some shit and sporting life has all their shit hidden away to move more bikes, golf, tennis, and yoga gear. You can't even get a pair of skis mounted downtown from May - October.

At least at the show, you can buy pieces of gear like everywhere else.

What shop was this? I went to sign last year and had 2 pairs of FKS mounted on skis I hadn't bought at the shop no problem, they were super nice about it. I could see this being an issue at like sporting life where they're just a cash cow for the eglinton & etobicoke rich folks, but frankly I wouldn't want the highschool kids that work there to mount my skis anyways

and yeah, if you want ski gear this time of year in southern ontario, corbetts is pretty much your only option, everyone else has it packed up

They'll mount, but they won't sell you bindings unless you buy a pair of skis as well. I needed a pair of bindings in a bad way last spring after breaking a heelpiece. I wasn't able to buy any bindings downtown, I had to frankenstein a solution out of an old pair.

I bought a pair of griffons last year as backups since they were super cheap at that time, had no problems either. I'd be pretty upset if they insisted I buy skis though.

I think over the ski show weekend, we should post up awesome deals that we see. I personally am looking for some black ski pants, cant have too many pairs of black ski pants.........

That's weird man, it must have been who you were dealing with. I bought FKS14's for my park skis I ordered online from sign, and they mounted them up no probs

what is the ski show? i have never been to the one in Toronto? and does anyone know ski movies priemiering this year? and where in Toronto???

No, it's not. It's my problem and what we were talking about.

The ski show is in Mississauga, which is a trek from downtown.

I asked them on fb about the rail jam. They came back with this.

Toronto Snow Show: We're working on something big. Details coming soon!

I know the binding discussion is kind of dead, but unless you've had bad experiences with the Sign of the Skier in the past, they were able to get me some looks two seasons back, and I imagine they'd be able to do so again. Skiis and Biikes definitely had bindings last time I was in, and looked like they'd be happy to sell whether or not you bought a pair of skis from them (February - and I know not downtown).

I'm pretty sure its 10k cash purse, so distributed through all the categories. I also heard its invite only. Has it been good in years past? I'm thinking of going but its a pain to get to Mississauga from Ryerson Campus...

so does anyone know if you can just show up and sign up for it? last year i just went and skied on it which is fun enough as it is but im going friday so we ridin

Some good deals I saw were at Harry's - 50% goggles, only had a close look at the Oakley stuff, they had splice, crowbars, O-Frame, and A-Frame in a few different lenses and frame colors. They also had electric goggles for 50% off.

I purchased the black bonfire snow pants I was looking for at Corbetts for 99 bucks....not too shabby....people were hitting the setup even though it was pissing rain and that was cool.

show seemed really small this year, but none the less still pretty fun. If your looking for bindings head over to corbetts, lime green pivots for $189, griffons for $175 or something like that.

I saw some hoodies, but they were crazy ass colors and not really my thing. To think about it, not much hoodie selection at all. It will be a zoo there so, good luck.

As well, anyone notice all the hotties walking around? Even if you aren't buying anything you can go for some of that eye candy!
