2013 Rossi FKS 140 Mounting Issues!

I've been to two shops only to be told they cant mount the bindings because they don't have the proper jig, something about the mounting holes being "weird". Anyone else having mounting issues with the 2013 Rossi FKS 140?

How often have you gone to these shops before? They sound suspect... or run by monkeys?

The FKS is a pretty common binding, and any shop should be equipped to mount them.

Is the problem on the ski? What are you mounting to? Are there holes already in the ski?

My shop has 1 jig, it's a different pivot heel. We have a pivot jig from 2 years ago but the holes are more spread out in the heel, you actually need an old pivot jig to mount new pivots. Companies change the holes around every now and then, like the new duke. Problem is, if they don't have the jig you need, it probably means they hardly ever mount that kind of binding and don't plan on getting a new jig just for you because they're about 300 a piece

Yea but no legit shop should do that simply for the reason that if your off by a little or don't go in completely straight you can fuck it up, it's easy and do able but it's too risky

Yeh I think it depends on the shop. The only time I've ever had to mount with a template, the shop seemed ok to do it, but then again the shop tech seemed to like me.

Sorry about the dub post.

OP you might have to try a different shop, you're in the tahoe area, so it's not like your short on shops. Alternatively you could try and find someone online either here on NS, on TGR or skibuilders who is set up to mount skis and would prepared to mount yours. This is a longshot however.

Yea if the customer says ok then go for it but god forbid it wasnt perfect the customers at my shop would go crazy lol but u can definitely use a paper jig they work just as fine

The shop is being rubbish, even if they don't have a jig the bindings come with a clear plastic sticky template that you line up the 2 halves for your BSL, centre it on the ski and mount point, then drill. It's not rocket surgery unless they're scared of drilling without guide collars in which case they're monkeys and shouldn't be messing with skis anyway.

the fks is only recently becoming relevant again. my shop didnt have the rossi/look jib with the fks/pivot hole pattern until last year when i started riding them. so it doesnt surprise me that the shops youve gone to didnt have them. there isnt anything weird about the hole pattern. if you dont have the jig, you dont have the jig. a paper template is fine and all, but not going to be as precise and a standard jig, and you dont want some jimmy two shoes mounting your skis with a paper template.

Exactly what are you talking about? I said it's not rocket surgery, the sticky jig that comes with the bindings is about 5 times easier than a paper jig, especially because it's transparent so it's really easy to line up on the ski.
