2012 Armada Pipe Cleaner mounting point?

Hi guys,

I tried a pretty substantial search on this topic but couldn't find a particularly relevant, up-to-date answer.

I recently bought a pair of 2012 Armada Pipe Cleaners in the 181 cm length. I am 5'11", 165 lbs, and have been skiing for over a decade. I was basically looking for a ski to replace the 2010 Volkl Walls I've been skiing on for the last 2 years: a nimble and balanced "competition" park ski that can hold it's own all over the mountain. On this particular pair of skis, I'll be skiing park about 75% of the time and the rest on trees/moguls/steeps. I will be mounting with a pair of new Look P18 turntable bindings.

Any recommendations as to where to have the skis mounted at? I read some older reports of binding tear-outs when center mounted. I'm not sure where the recommended point is on this ski, and whether given my conditions it would be good to mount the bindings further up. What do you think?

Thanks for the input!

I'm almost certain the recommended mounting point on those is -2.5. As for your concern of center mounting, it shouldn't make it more prone to pull out.

I would mount them at dead center, as it doesn't affect the carving too much, and is best for park.

Recommended is -2.5cm.

Dead center won't be the cause of binding pullouts... it was likely mounting error.

Pretty much anywhere from dead center to -2.5cm back and you will be good.

Really a matter of personal preference. If you are used to dead center, go with that.

i think youll be totaly fine at dead center. i have the original pipe cleaners that i mounted twice at dead center with a smaller bsl and a much latger one and never had any issues. youll love how they ride at center too. good luck!

With my pipe cleaners im ridingcentre if using in the park but if i use them for pipe then i usually go -2.5 both feel good but after riding centre well ive been hooked.
