Draw is on right now.

throw out who you think will be taking it home this season!

we will redeem ourselves from last year. It's their time finally.

Group D:

Real Madrid

Manchester City

Borussia Dortmund

Ajax

Ouch. City doesn't get out of the group for the second straight year. Arsenal got a great draw.

ya boohooo for city ha

arsenal finally got a good draw, after ac milan, and barce the past 4 years they deserve a chance to move out of the group stages.

just wanna point out that the group really hasn't been the problem for Arsenal. Milan and Barca knocked them out in the next round.

With that said, they did get a good group...not so easy that they'll be off pace, but not a group of death.

I can't wait for that group of death. it's perfect.

after watching the spanish super cup second leg last night, I'm gunna have to go for Real Madrid, they hardly gave Barca a sniff, in fact Barca didn't have a shot on target until Messi's freekick in the 44th minute, that is some might fine defending.

yeh it was a bit lucky, but it came about because of shitty defending on barcas part. But yeh, Messi's goal was insane in the membrane. Don't think I've seen him score from that far out before.

just about 38 minutes into the first half in the first series of games...

Man-city vs real madrid is on fox soccer in the us, tied 0-0.

Arsenal leading montpelier 2-1

psg seemingly dominating kiev 3-0

malaga beating zenit 2-0

and everyone else is tied 0-0 at the moment

madrid-city has gone completely insane.

city go up 1-0, real equalize immediately. 1-1

city go up 2-1, real again eqaulize immediately. 2-2

Joe hart is really the only reason city has still been in this though

holy hell this game got good, i though man city had it in the bag for a sec

lego arsenal you can pull it out.

haha fuck you manchester city! stoked! and arsenal won too so tonight was a good night for me!

2:17 for Arsenal v Montpellier Highlights

Holy hell that Madrid, Man City game was amazing. I was watching the first half bored to tears then had to follow the rest from twitter in class and almost shouted when Ronaldo's goal popped up on my feed.

i know a win is a win, but we definitely looked better while thrashing s'hampton than we did trying to hold out against montpelier.

though it gives the bould defense a new challenge of holding out, and they succeeded so let's hope it's a sign that fewer late goals will be conceded

i almost feel bad for moses cause despite his winner, the only match anyone is going to talk about from this week is celtic-barcelona.

Leave it to celtic...get their asses kicked by a terrible SPL team on a saturday, then beat the world's best midweek. They have the ability to pick it up against big sides.

I think that's been the most striking thing throughout the tournament. Teams like Dortmund, Ajax, Celtic etc really raising the bar and challenging the more established big names. Been dupe interesting to watch.

you really need to watch more soccer if you don't think dortmund are a very good team. i'm not at all surprised they're getting results against the likes of city and madrid.

why? every single game where a team win has a winning goal. it was, in all honesty, a very routine goal against a routine team. the only thing that made it slightly above average is that it came late. but in the group stages...meh. it's really not much to write home about whether or not it's compared to the celtic win

As much as i hate celtic with a passion it is good to see them getting good results in europe to keep those european spots open for scottish teams as we dont have many at the moment

Check you out.

I wasn't saying Dortmund are a bad team, I'm saying it's exciting to see them playing well against teams with a rich history in european competitions over recent years. Would you honestly have expected this a few years back when dortmund were a pretty average bundesliga side with financial trouble?

This would be like predicting liverpool to start fucking up barcelona in 3 years looking at their squad.

got it, got it.

on a completely unrelated note, liverpool wont be fucking up barca in 3 years, but only because they are an english team.

I mean, that's what happens when you don't play the best goalkeeper in the world just because you don't like that your teams fans like him more than you.

Casillas is actually injured at the moment. Nothing to do with his falling out with Jose.

Overall I haven't been too impressed by either side.

Wanna talk about sub par, look no further than Celtic yesterday.

!

well this thread was a total bust this year. anyone watch the final though? what the fuck was that retarded pregame show, this isnt american sports. i had trouble getting into it (might be cause wisdom teeth meds) but it definitely was a good game. both teams could have seen players off. goalkeepers were the heroes. wonder if dortmund could have won with Gotze, but fuck that bieber look a like.

Yeah, loved how he complained about a dortmund player faking an injury and then took a horrendous dive himself a few minutes later and rolled around on the ground for a while

idk what game you guys saw, but if thats the only thing you took away then ok...

great game, finally bayern got it. was afraid they would blow it once again. dortmund was only better between minutes 10 and 25 and between 45 and 55. bayern had much better scoring chances and all in all a well deserved victory because dortmund wasnt doing anything in the second half.

in regard to all these ref conspiracies: ribery's "elbow" wasnt an elbow at all and while it looked bad, yes, let the FUCKING ref decide it. its not like he wasnt paying attention. no, he was standing 30 ft next to it and wasnt taking his eyes off the scene. dantes first yellow was a joke and therefore he would have had one yellow at best, and i like how the ref basically said "its ok dude, i wont send you off, the penalty is bad enough".

dont forget that lewandowski also should have been sent off (worst action off the game) and that subotic and schmelzer committed OBVIOUS fouls while they were the last defenders. there, the ref also "let them play" (instead of red and freekick/penalty) and noone will criticize that. then also shut your mouth regarding the bayern players.

refs will stretch the rules to achieve a game played according to their style. a foul in the box should be called the same like a foul at midfield, but its not. if you think that this is good, then dont blame the ref for not sending off dante.

lol are you a bayern fan?

i just mentioned it in passing i honestly dont think the ref had any impact on the game which means he had a really good game.

obviously i am a bayern fan.

wasnt directed at this thread, more at the general opinion of people straight up negating bayerns claim of the trophy because the ref was soooo bad and soooo much in favor of bayern. i read that shit all day on facebook and in some german game reports.

idk if fans wouldve liked to see them play 9-9 by the end.

fact is, refs get criticized for sticking to the rules too much, without "feeling" the situation. and now i think we had a perfect example of a ref doing that, and look whats up.

i am german and if bayern had won one of their earlier finals, i would have been almost indifferent, or maybe even pro dortmund. my brothers a dortmund fan and i rooted for them all season.

bayern had around 5 "must score" situations, whereas i would say that dortmund had only 1 or 2. they had some nice challenges, but nothing a regular goalkeeper (yet alone one a top 10 guy in neuer) wouldnt be able to handle. one team has to win and dortmund has only itself to blame and their total lack of a second half.
