2012/13 ARMADA Fleece

I am looking at getting an Armada tech fleece online for this season, to wear under my jacket when its cold or on its own when its not too chilly out. If anyone has any input or experience with either a fleece or hoodie from Armada it would be much appreciated.

Is it enough over a tech base layer and under your jacket to keep you warm? Keep in mind the ice coast Canadian temps.

Another question I have is about the sizing. The sizing as described on the Armada site is confusing making it hard to judge the appropriate size. They describe the front length as the length from the bottom of the jacket/hoodie to the neck seam. I am more familiar with the zipper length. Two of the options I was looking into was the progressive and long fit. I am 5'10/5'11" and usually wear hoodies at mid thigh or just above.

i just bought the Armada Turbine Tech hoodie the other day. its the only one that was 100% polyester fleece. the other ones are aquaphobic fleece so they will work but they're like 60% cotton so if you get wet your F'ed... the turbine tech is the only fleece that is considered layering rather than fleece sweatshirts

Im 6'3 i bought XL and it fits perfect (turbine tech is progressive fit, so 2 inches longer)

Tho I must say the other hoodies (with cotton blend fleece) are much thicker and much nicer , but i just couldnt pay that much for something with cotton in it.

my bad. for cold temps, i would say midweight baselayer, a tech hoodie Poly or Cotton, and an insulated jacket.

and at your height for mid thigh i would say xxl regular or XLarge progressive. most hoodies run shorter than jackets, when length is compared at same sizes.

Very understandable. Do you find that for you the progressive fit in XL is suitable for street wear or strictly skiing? Because I'm trying to decide between M and L for my height and am having a difficult time.

Go with large for sure, as long as its the progressive fit... XL progressive is about 1/3 thigh for me, it completely covers my butts. i would guess L would be a little longer on you (i have long ass legs/short torso) so would be perfect.

Thanks again dude. Extremely appreciated.

If anyone else has any information, I'm planning on ordering tomorrow. Any insight is appreciated.

I skied in a tech hoodie all winter last year. I didn't even own a coat. I was never too chilly. Just make sure if you don't wear a coat in the cold that you layer properly. Definitely get it. One of my best purchases I've made in a while.

i under estimated the warmth of the turbine tech hoodie. i wore that today with a smartwool underneath and i was sweatin balls. Its so thin but so warm?

Thanks Alistair but those look like the 'front lengths' from the Armada site. Those were what were confusing me. Something about 'the bottom of the garment to the neck seam'. I better understand zipper length when it comes to fitting myself with purchases online.

Also, with the help of some other people I've found out that those measurements are more so the jackets, with the hoodies and tech fleeces being a bit smaller. I was wondering if anyone had an actual zipper length for those.

And skisafe thanks for the input on the turbine hood, its one of my choices. Now to just pull the trigger and decide.
