2010 Olympic Mascots

I gotta say the new mascots for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics are kinda weak. They used a sea bear named Miga, a Sasquatch named Quatchi, and an animal spirit name Sumi (this one wasn't bad, means guardian spirit). Sure they look cute and fuzzy but they don't show enough Canadian spirit. They deffinitley should of added more well known Canadian animals suchas; the beaver, Canadian geese, or the obvious a polar bear.

What?! There's no polar bear? There's like polar bear statues AlL OVER VANCOUVER, and it's not even an official mascot. WTF

Walk through downtown Vancovuer, they're like on every other block outside office buildings and stuff.
 
Those mascots are like friggin cartoon characters from Japanese TV....

everything about all the 2010 mascots and logos seem weak as well. The logo is an inuksuk(not sure if i spelled that right), last I checked, inuksuks don't represent vancouver at all, sure there may be a whole bunch of natives in vancouver and BC, but that doesnt represent vancouver itself. Fuck it might as well have been raindrops or some shit like that, Vancouver has so much more to offer as inspiration for logos than a statue made of rocks...
 
WTF they forgot a moose! I know it's not Vancouver but in Toronto, a few years they had this project where they placed about 100 moose around Toronto.

Ahahaha, yea, they did the same to Vancouver except with polar bears.

oh, and to the person talking about inuksuks or whatever , there's a fat one sitting outside my home (english bay)

 
Im not trying to disrespect inuksuks or however its spelled, or bringing the legitimacy of what an inuksuk represents, or the fact that they are apart of BC into question. But it still stands that compared to everything else that could be a logo for vancouver, the inuksuk is a pretty weak choice. (Basically what Iam trying to say is, Im not trying to start a fight or anything about them, but the inuksuk logo is fucking weak)
 
would of been funny if the made the logo the queen since she's our monarch. but I'm sorta undecided on the logo. It's sorta simple but, sometimes simple is better.
 
Oh, I agree. To be honest, it doesn't have much to do with Vancouver heritage at all... more Yukon/Territories related, if anything

 
Everyone I know hates these thing with a passion. They were designed by some japanese immigrant who arrived like 2 weeks before designing the mascots to represent Canada. Pisses me off.

Oh, and yeah, we have bears all over town now, and we used to have tons of whales like 5 years ago. The coolest bear is painted to look like Darth Vader. Yup, we have a Star Wars polar bear.
 
those are terrible. their names are not even in a language spoken by a majority of the people in that region. at least i dont think there are a whole lot of chinafolk in canada...
 
oh man i am sorry, in alaska they are usually just tourists so i figured it would be the same there. and miga and sumi sound really asian to me... my assumptions are a bit of today.
 
They made them Asian-looking for one reason. Cash. They expect over half of these gay mascot sales to come from Asian countries, and so they're catering them to their desires. CREAM.

dude, they look like those little messed up cartoon things that always like violently get killed and stuff, they have their own website and everything, shit... what are they called.
 
quatchi is the only decent one...i dont really like the anime idea though...they probably just did it because there are so many damn fobs here
 
Plus Vancouver is the biggest game design paradise in the world. A lot of game companies are located there and you couldn`t get one of the graphic artist to whip something up better than this.
 
This doesn't look like asian stuff. It's not pokemon. This looks more like TVO(if you live in canada-channel 2) crap.
