2010 LINE AFTERBANG dissucsion

im sure by now most people have checked out the new video on lineskis.com of the after bangs i was wondering what evryone thought about them they are a pretty new idea i am thinking even thinking of getting them myself so enyone with an opinion of the skis or someone who has demo'd them what do you think?
 
they sound like a good ski but i don't really get the whole skateboard part. I mean u can snap a deck just by jumping on it. Now lets say u land backseat on a huge jump, well a ski designed exactly like a skateboard would snap like nothing. Also i think that wood topsheet is gonna get some nasty gashes. I have never tried em so i don't know what there really like.
 
True, but the Afterbang is more than just gear, it could be a massive progression in skiing technology, or an absolute flop.
I personally am still freaked out by the idea of a wooden ski.
I kind of think the concept is flawed: never have I hit a 70ft booter on my skateboard, subjected it to water for long periods or slid it as aggressively as I do with a pair of skis. Also the fact that many of the Line skiers, TC, etc seem to favour the Chronic Cryptonite and Anthem over the Afterbang?
That's my $0.02. Just a thought.
 
ya true i noticed that in many of the tc episodes as well i think the only line skiers that really stuck with them are max hill and chole dexter
 
most skis are made out of wood, i would even speculate that the very first ski was made out of wood.
the afterbang replaced the invader. how did the invader hold up on 70ft+ jumps? not very well because they are more jib oriented. it will still jump but thats not where it excels. plenty of their riders use the afterbang. poth, tye, compton all rock the afterbang. i just wouldnt say they are as versitile as the chronics.
 
Almost all ski are made out of wood. The design of a ski and skateboard is completely different your skateboards doesn't flex too much does it? Skis do, hence they won't break. And all the Line riders have multiple pairs of skis, and in all the TC episodes they are mostly on afterbangs. Will skied on blends a bunch of times, Andy always skis on anthems. I don't think I saw one person on Cryptonites but I may be mistaken.
 
Watch the video on Line's website. They tested them for a year on urban. They are going to hold up... Andy and Will use chronic Cryptonites because they don't need/like a soft ski.

 
i think i'm going to get this ski. sounds like a great ski for jibbing and railing on street.

also i think this is a huge progression for this sport right now
