i skied for the first time yesterday and it was awesomei caught on really quickly, i think because of rollerblading and i was already doing grinds both ways on these 2 little boxes at 7 springs
/csb

Thats nice :D you should learn to spin, rail and everything pretty quickly then

And btw it's not grinding its railing. No hate

Well at least I've never heard anyone using ''grind'' when skiing. With skateboard and blading you grind, in skiing and snowboarding its railing?? The word ''grinding'' just doesnt sound right to my ears.

ive never heard grinding or railing on snow

now that i think about it ive only ever said or heard "hit this rail/box/jump"

first off, congrats, have a great season. second, I think we can all recall our first attempt at skiing, and most of us remember getting going to quick and eating it...ooorrr is that just me?

o rly?

congrats, but if i was you i would learn how to actually ski first, then progress in the park, seems to me if you cant ski it would be hard to land big jumps, not to mention switch

Word I skied for the first two times this week, and caught on really quickly too. I believe its because I both rollerbladed and have been snowboarding for a while, so I knew the physics/balancing of it. I can now do down rails, pretzel, and 3! mega claim. I can't ski for shit though...

i guess i'm okay at actually skiingi was able to do the slopes that were open no problem with my friends and i was able to keep up with themi do need to work on controlling my speed thodo you just have to dig in really hard when you turn or whatever?

cool its always good to hear about a new skier. I remember my first time. I was very young and i loved it. After that i didn't ski for another seven years. I picked it back up when I was 12 and now im 16 and still enjoying the sport. Good luck on hopefully many more years of skiing to you.

word dude thats pretty legit, i would definitely get your chops down outside the park too though, whenever you go out to ski or somethin you can go ski trails while the snow isn't all skied off before lunch or something and then go hit the park after a bite to eat... just get comfortable making some carves and going at speed so you'll be more comfortable hitting jumps and such

learn how to ski proper first, don't forget that skiing isn't all about sliding rails and throwing 7s , It's also all about the powder and those sick early morning corduroy super g turns that help to make skiing what it is!!!
Learn to ski like Bode Miller BEFORE learning to ski like Henrik!

straight up, just have fun with it. ski within your limits, but push yourself when you feel ready. sure, tricks are dope, but nothin' beats tearin the moutain up at 7 am. well, maybe cork 9's do. but I cant do them. haha

please explain everything after 7'spowder's like super fluffy snow on mountains and stuff right?like cross country skiing?

Okay... a picture says a thousand words!
This is powder snow:

And this is Henrik:

Hope that helps!
Good luck with everything! skiing is the only sport that seriously gets me buzzed, just remember there is more than the park to learn, you will then appreciate those simple high speed turns just as much as a sick new trick you have just thrown!
Good Luck man!
