few details about the Video Contest have rolled in. Start editing. Make

sure your video is 2-4 minutes long. More details and rules will be

posted on our website this week. But I think you have mostly everything

you need to start editing now!

Ok. The video contest is on.

More details will be posted on our website soon. We have some great

prizes for the winner, but I don't want to reveal what they are until

they are all here!We will pick the best 5 edits, compile

them, and show them on a loop sequence before the Teton Gravity

Research premier in November. As if having every skier at the

University of Utah see your edit isn't prize enough, Wiley Miller will

then pick the best edit from the top 5 edits, that edit will be deemed

the winner and its editor will be given some awesome prizes! The entire

edit will be posted online after the TGR premier.

Upload your video to vimeo.com and submit the link to social@freeskiersociety.com

I have seen some of the potential prizes...they just want to wait until all prizes are in until they announce what will be given out. So as to not promise anything that can't be delivered. should be a good contest.

I don't think it will be a problem if you don't since the video really won't be used for any commercial purposes, but if a problem does arise it will be your responsibility to indemnify the university and the club....Is that answer conclusive enough?

Also, your rules are complete horseshit, learn that your shit isn't a big deal and you dont need to be so "legal". ufs are a bunch of clowns

No the rules are literally stupid. You have to be a member? You have to get signed releases? you have to "try your best" do not have copyright infringement? wtf

Yes you have to be a member. This is because while some of the prizes are being donated by sponsors, some are being paid for by the club. You should already be a member though because if you were you would have gotten into the Dendrite premier for free, you would have gotten into PBP half price, you will get into Field Productions for free, and you will get discounted entrance to TGR.

We just put in the rule that you have to get signed releases so that if you one of your friends is stupid enough to get pissed off about you winning with footage of them, you are responsible for that action and not us. If you aren't worried about your friends getting mad, then don't be worried about getting a signed release. Nowhere did it say that you had to turn in signed releases with your footage.

As far as copyrights go. It was already explained above that the music thing probably isn't a big issue, but that if an artist gets mad at you, you will be responsible. The other issue with copyrights is not stealing other peoples footage in order to help yourself win..but that is a no brainier.

The rules really aren't very strict, they are just in place in case something crazy happens to help keep the club away from liability. Don't do anything stupid and most the rules won't apply to you.

Also, anyone that gets in the top 5 will obviously get free entrance to the TGR premier.
