190CM+ Pow Charger Reccomendations

Hey NS, I'm torn on a new pow/steep stick and need some recommendations.

Currently - My touring ski is the 190 Liberty Origin 116. My 6" daily driver is the is the 191 Fischer Ranger 102FR (LOVE THIS SKI). And my resort pow board is the 192CM JJ (last years model). I'm looking to replace the JJ cause I've really disliked it since getting on the Rangers. I can't push it hard enough in steeper terrain and it's a little sluggish across the rest of the mountain. I've been eyeing these 2 sticks as replacements. I'm 6'5 220lbs so i need a ski over 190 that is greater then 115 waist preferably

Armada Declivity X 192 CM

Fischer Ranger 115 FR 196CM

I do not want to ski the Wildcat or Jeffery 116. I've skied the rustler 11 and i hated it, felt dead coming out of turns. I need a ski that can rip steeps, but also is fun on side hits and is a little playful. But i prioritize performance over playful. I have 2012 Bentchetlers that are okay but i think i can do better.

Has anyone skied the Ranger 115 or Declivity X? Any other recommendations i should look at??

ON3P billy goat? they come in a 189, so it might not be quite long enough as you like but they charge, stomp, and float like no other ski ive been on. pretty stiff. really have to drive them and be aggressive otherwise youll die. definitely a pow charger and crud slayer. Its the only ski i want to be on when sending it deep and going fast. im 6"2 200lbs and rock the 189s. Theyre a bit much to drive around in tight trees (29.4m turn radius) but other than that, i have zero complaints.

Why did you rule out two of the most textbook playful chargers?

What about the Woodsman 116? A little more chargy than the Jeffrey while still playful and not as muted as the Wrenegade

Oddly you ruled out 2 of the better skis in the category.

When I skied the Bibby I didn't love it. Skied too short for me similar to how I felt about the JJ. Heard similar things from friends on the Jeffery which drove that call out.

I can't comment on the Billy Goat or Woodsman 116 (both of which seem like solid choices), but the other skis I'd add would be the 191 Nordica Enforcer 115 Free, 189 cm Dynastar Menace Proto, 189 cm DPS Koala F119, and maybe the 191 Volkl Revolt 121.

The Enforcer 115 is the most versatile of the bunch and is very damp but not crazy stiff. Probably the least floaty in pow, but it does fine on all but the crazy deep days. Guessing you'd get along with it if you like the Ranger 102.

Menace Proto is worth a look if you want a strong, damp ski that's also very surfy, though I'm guessing it might feel too loose and maybe not long enough for you.

Koala 119 is a very heavy, very stiff ski that I'm guessing you'd like. Probably the most stable of the ones I've listed.

Revolt 121 might be surfier than what you're looking for, but it is very damp and very stable for how rockered and tapered it is. Would definitely be more stable than the JJ, but maybe not stable enough if you love the 191 Ranger 102.

The Declivity X looks rad — heavy, strong, not much tail rocker. But I don't know anyone who's been able to ski one yet. And you'd probably like the Ranger 115 if you like the 102, though the 115 is a bit softer and more playful. I know they used to make the 196 much heavier and stiffer than the shorter lengths, but not sure if that's still the case.

Finally, haven't skied it much yet, but the Kye Shapes Numinous looks super interesting. Heavy and strong but with a surfy-looking shape. Seems like it could be similar to the Koala 119.

*edit: just remembered Moment makes a 194 cm Commander 118. Wouldn't be super playful but I bet that you'd like it, based on the Ranger 102. Much stronger, heavier, and more effective edge & running length than the Bibby / Wildcat.

THANK YOU. The Koala does look solid. Got to ski with Dash Longe last season and he swore it was the best ski he's been on in a minute. Ripped on late march crud/ice. Literally no one in the world has been on the Declivity X though. There's like 2 posts on TGR that are incredibly positive but hoping for more intel. Everything about that ski is enticing.

Lot of good recommendations here. I don't think DPS makes a 190+ Koala but I could be wrong.

Other ideas

Custom Billygoats go up to 193 (And keep in mind this is actually 193 unlike a lot of brands).

Moment Chipotle Banana if you like full rocker.

Personally I think one of the Praxis big mountain skis or maybe even the protest is going to be your best bet but you should probably go to TGR for more input on that.

189cm ON3P Wren 114 - available under custom builds. I doubt it would be too short a ski for someone your size, and it’s the definition of a pow charge machine.

Can't say enough good things about Mindbender 116's, love mine.

The Declivity X sure is a rad one though, it goes...

Honestly if you really like your rangers just get bigger rangers. My brother has a pair of 192 122 rangers and they’re great skis. He took them to Utah last year and skied 2ft+ and ripped but still daily’s them on groomers bc he likes them that much
