im 6 2 180 lbs and a decent skiier not much into park just like boosting off cliffs and riding pow and treesso my question is whats 185 feel like, im worried its gonna be too big/hard to control. right now i ride i think 04 or 05 or something thalls 176 and the ski im looking to get is 09 armada arv's 185 what do you guys think?
also i like doing moguls will the longer ski make that harder?thanks +k
 
At 6'2" you should be riding in the 180's anyway. I'm 5'8" and have no problem handling a 183 Katana. I actually regret not getting the 190. Go for the 185.
 
you'll love them. do not go shorter than 185 (for your height, and for pow/cliffs). I am 6'1" 175lbs and have been on 189s all season. love them. you'll be stomping the piss outta cliffs before you know it.
 
I'm 170lb, 6'2" and I've ridden a 185 Scratch BC and a 185 Armada ARV as pure park skis. They're great and I wouldn't mind going longer at all, even spinning on and off of rails. Neither of them are burly skis, but I don't think I would have trouble handling something bigger outside of the park.
 
Shit, I just read your post again and you want a 185 ARV.

I'm riding a pair right now but I'm 20lbs lighter than you and I absolutely hate mine. They're wayyyy too soft for any real skiing and I feel that with 20lbs on me you would hate them even more. They're only really good as a pure park ski, outside of the park the tips are just too soft to be any use.

I competed moguls on them and while I'm not a great mogul skier I didn't find them all too bad, for a noodle with a 95mm waist.

I would recommend the Scratch BC/ S5 for you if you're looking for similar skis. They're a millimeter or two wider and quite a bit stiffer, which makes them actually useful outside of the park.
 
If what you're skiing is mainly pow and cliffs, I'd say definitely go with something 185+, not sure about the ARV, I skied a pair a few years back and they were super soft, I agree with the guy above me, get something a little stiffer. I'm about your size and for pow I ski 191 Supermojos, a bit of extra length and stiffness will make landing cliffs so much more stable.
