This probably looks pretty pathetic compared to most of you but im a first year park skier and just looking for help on my 180. I can usually pull a 180 off pretty easily but it looks sloppy and can use some work so i was wondering if anyone had any tips on making it smoother or had any tips on doing 180s in general, anything well help thanks

Don't worry about how it looks if your just starting, but the more you practice it the easier it will be and the better it will look.

Maybe practice riding switch so that when you land you're totally comfortable and don't feel like you need to turn around right away. Hopefully that'll prevent you from landing in a backwards snowplow too lol, that used to happen to me when I was learning them.

Try to focus on keeping your arms at your side, the majority of switch landings when your starting out look sloppy because your arms flail amd drag on the ground, but if you keep then controlled you can usually make it look good

^yea your arms flying up is what really makes a trick look bad. but when i started doing 180s over small rollers my skis barely left the ground and it looked kinda dumb. make sure you bring your knees up just a little and theyll look much better

thanks man thats most of my problem i cant seem to get up high enough any idea of what kinda jumps i should start out with to do them

i wouldn't worry about getting big air on your 180s just try and get used to turning you head and hips and skiing switch. 180s aren't anything thats going to look super sick (for the most part) especially if you're just starting out, you just need them to move onto other shit in the beginning. work your way up from rollers to small jumps so that you're comfortable in the air and not floppin like a fish outa water.
rules of thumb for the future tho keeping your body tight in the air and bending your knees makes you look better and in control. and real important wherever your head is looking your body will follow.
