179 or 189?

im having a problem deciding which size ski i want and i was hoping you all could help. i am 6' 160 lbs. im an aggressive all mountain skier. i cant decide whether i want the new seths in a 179 or a 189. ive been skiing on 4frnt msps in a 180 for the last 3 years and last year i definately felt like i could go bigger (ski wise). my only hold backs are: will i still be able to rip through the tight trees? and will i still be able to throw them around in the park? any input would be appreciated. also anyone who already owns some seths feel free to fill me in on the money spot for mounting. peace.

Well I am 5 8 150, I went to the seth 179's. There a little big but better than the 169. I would say go with the 179 if you like the park and powder. It would be a lot easier to throw around in the trees also. I mount mine at a +4 and there amazing. Last year I mounted at +3 (K2 reccomended) I found that +4 is a little easier to control!

That's my two cents!

You'd probably still be ok with the 189 in the trees, the 179 would be better obviously, but you'll definitely have some trouble tossing the 189s in the park.

179's would definitely be better in the park, but the 189's would suit you more on the rest of the mountain. Figure out what you want them to be better for and choose accordingly. For reference, I'm exactly the same size as you and have 189's, albeit for touring.

Hey, some places will let you demo them. Like The Sports Authority near me has the SETH's that you can demo before buying. I would check into that.

im not a super huge park guy i like to spend most of my time ripin up the mountain. the biggest trick i can throw is a 540 so i guess i wouldnt be too dissapointed about losing some park ease. i think im gonna go with the 189s and mount them at +4 or +5 that should help me a little in the trees and ill still be a ble to rip the big lines without any trouble. thanks fer all the input.

I'd suggest 189's for your size..but just remember that K2's measure really long! The 179cm seths would still be quite a bit longer than your 180 MSP's.

well since it sounds like ur going to use dees in the park I would NOT go189 unless u centre mount, are cofedent u will be able to handle them and/or prefer a ski that is longer for you

other wise I think 179 will prob be the better deal

I don't think they're much ski to handle since they're noodles, if you went around +4-5 they'd be sweet around the mountain and really nice on big jumps in the park. No 93839292y5 on quituple switch up rodeo bajillion offs on rails, but you'd have some super stable skis that could land anything. I'm planning on mounting mine at +4 with alpine bindings pretty soon to use as rock/jib skis.
