169..too big?

ok so i went into one of the local ski shops the other day to look for skis. and i saw a pair of this years PE's in 169. i was like sweet! i'm 5'7. but then guy was like. i don't think thoses are good for you. and i was like. uhhh why? and he said. 'it's to much ski for a girl'. and then he was trying to tell me to race and that it's better. i was like fuck this and left.

how much do you weigh?

and keep in mind that K2 measures in running length, not full length of the ski, so it doesn't include the tip and tail.

oh and that guy at the shop is a fucker

 
why does everyone eep saying K2 measures in running length? They don't measure your skis. My PE's tip to tail were exactly 169, and and running length was considerable smaller

Shop guys know nothing, they try to sell s810 bindings for more than s912 bindings

 
Meh, I think people measured them that the tip and tail is also running length. It's 169 tip to tail, I measured it like a minute ago.

im assuming you are a girl, from your icon so this will be relevant to your situation

i, also a girl, am a bit shorter and a bit lighter than you. i have the 169s and they are not too much ski for me. if you are a beginning skier then they may be too big for you but otherwise get them. i highly reccomend you get the 169s and not the 159s

I think the length is perfect. Especially if you ski aggressively. Get the skis and tell him to go fuck himself.

 
yo lets settle this running length thing about k2 right now. Im pretty sure k2 measures CERTAIN skis this way BUT NOT in publics enemies and fugitives-if it says 169 it is 169. Does anyone wana clear this up ? Cause im stil confused.

Public Enemies and Fujatives are exactly 169cm. Seth Pistols and Made'N Ak's are measured running length I believe, no so sure about the Seth Pistols. In these models, a 179 would probably be more like a 183.

So I measured up some Rossi, and some Dynastars, and some K2 twin tips... this is what I got:

K2s: exactly same height from tip to tail as it says.

Rossis and Dynastars: about 2-3 cm shorter than what it says. I think this is because they measure the skis when they are flat and no upturn in tip or tail

so the K2s are still a bit longer (but hardly) than other skis of the same measurement, but for a different reason than I first though.. 2 cm really won't make any real difference though

My advice is to first buy the skis and act very sweet and nice, then, as you're about to leave, introduce your foot to his groinage region.
