166 afterbangs for 5 6- 5 7 guy?

ok there have been a lot of threads on sizing, and im sure most of you would say too small, but I was wondering about how line sizes their skis? because I've heard that they are quite long, and my buddy just told me that he saw some 155 afterbangs that were as big as 161 suspects. is this true? i know my friends 171 invaders are quite long, oddly longer than 172 lizzies...
 
maybe im just really used to short skis, but it seems like a lot of people on this site reccomend skis a little long? although idk where do those come up to on you?
 
theyre basically exactly as tall as i am
compared to my 176 volkl katanas, that are basically as tall as i am.

 
i see.... my friends 171 invaders are just a little bit taller than me i think, so 177s would be way over my head, especially if they run long... are they in stores yet?
 
go with the 166. I'm 5'6 and i usually ski 159s. I tried my friends 169s for a day last season and they are perfect, were a little better on jumps too. So yes the 166 would be awesome!
 
i had 171 Invaders last season, and they measured up at 173, i think its cause of the flattened tips, the anthems have the same deal. for the afterbangs im not sure, just go with what you would if you chose any other skis, a little bit more length never hurt anyone......(thats what she said)
 
yeah i am 5'9 and got 177. I may grow to about 5'11 or even 6'0 by the time I am done growing which should only be another year or so. But my afterbangs with last me 2 seasons most likely. For you... I say get 166. My afterbangs are about my height maybe a little taller.

 
I was about 5'8" last season (im a slow grower I'm almost 18 and still going haha and I'm 5'10" now) and I got 166 Ar6s and they were fine lots of fun for doing quick tricks since they were shorter and I didnt really notice any loss of stability

its probably better to go a bit bigger but if you want a ski for mostly rails and jibs then the shorter ones might be more fun
 
do any of you own 166 afterbangs? or own afterbangs in general? and also yeah i mostly just do rails and jibs, not too much jumping... does anyone know if the afterbangs are in stores yet? cause i know their sold out in a lot of places online...
 
hmmm......I have Lizzies and 171 invaders and the Lizzies are longer. You sure your friend doesn't have 178 invaders?

and sweetums, thats weird... ive found that the lizzies (last years) are slightly shorter than 171 invaders and ar6s....
 
im 5'6" and a 171 anthem is perfect size. id say if your going to have them for 1 year go 166 but more than a year go 177. but id go 177 if i got afterbangs because once they are centered they'll seem perfect size.
 
alright, i think im still gonna go into a shop and take a look, however idk if their in stores yet? their like almost sold out online....
 
I had 171 invaders two years ago and they seemed short. I'm 5'8" 140 lbs. I had 181 reno jibs last year and loved them. Go with bigger skis man, it might seem awkward at first especially with spins on/off rails but once you get used to the length it plays to your advantage big time. Gave me much more stability with just about everything, I could take jumps deeper and not worry about it, my landings felt more solid. Besides it's a center mount symmetrical ski so it skis much shorter than it actually is. I'm getting afterbangs too, definitely 177.
 
my 177 afterbangs are like a little taller than me and I am 5'9. I still say get 166 unless you plan on using them for more than one season and you are going to grow. I'm planning on my afterbangs to last 2 seasons since "they hold up great"-ian compton told me. And he skis so much that one of his seasons is probably more than 2 of mine.

 
for sure, but i still dont think i should go with the 177 if it was over a 5 10 persons head, they would be way taller than me...and midwestjibski, thanks for the info
 
perfect for you im 5'5" adn i ride a 161 and there a little short so those would be a good length
 
what?? I'm 5'6'' and ride 175's or 171's. Get something longer 166 seems short and 159 is just rediculeous, get snowblades at this point.
 
i was 5 6 last year, 171s seemed long for me and 161s were a bit more fun...im trying to find a shop around me that carries these so i can check em out in person, but no such luck....
 
hmmm so your 177 afterbangs are the same size as your 171 invaders? odd... ive heard like the exact opposite as well.... and the dealers around me are retarded, they dont have it in stock.maybe ill just order one size and if its too short/long return it for the other size? seems logical haha
and avila4sho, i dont jump much, so maybe thats why.... haha
