It's like the 1260, Matt Hayward is now grabbing and making it look super good, but at first he simply had to throw it around a few times to get used to it and make sure that he could get to his feet. Same with the first 900s in pipe, remember Degenerates?
So the 1620 is not dope.. yet. But at least someone got it out of the way (well almost), and MAYBE that will eventually lead to a 35 foot high grabbed 1620 in a 28 foot pipe, who knows.
Look at how sketchy, penciled, and hucked JF Cusson's winning switch 720 in the first ever XGames big air was. But eventually a trick that was at the time "hucked" and "spinning to win", has turned into something that is basically a pure style trick.
So maybe the trick itself is not yet dope, but it is dope that he sacked up and went for it.
