160 or 170

what size ski should i get? im about 5'5' and the 160 will be up to my forehead and the 170 will be over my head. oh and by the way, im getting maverics. i ride about 60/40 park/all mtn. im getting the mavericks because of the price, the company and the all mountain ability

hmmmm..170 maybe...if its more all mountain..ans since, from personal experience, line skis are really light!

These skis are kinda different than most other line skis, there's not much of a back tip, not much shape in the back, they're not as wide as the 1260s and they're kinda heavy compared to my 12's. This is based on my friends 170's. But anyways, they seem like a pretty good/sturdy ski. They seem softer than my 12's too but I don't think they are.

Go with the 170 if you ski aggressive(big jumps at high speeds), otherwise get the 160's. You should be aware though, that these have a 'high density' base rather than a sintered base. A sintered base is faster and more resistant to dents and gouges.

You might be better off trying to find a good deal last years Mike Nick, or something else, IMHO.

yeah, high density extruded bases suck ass,,they are like a pane of glass and dont absorb wax. They also damage esily and dont have the high end characteristics of most newer skis :S

I'm 5'6'' and I weigh about 135 and I just got the 03 1080's for cheep, but I had to get the 160's is this a good length for me?

 
extruded bases are for beginners who are too dumb or lazy to take care of their skis properly and wax them

I am not doing the grabs because I am getting a thrill out of touching my ski-JP Auclair

I'm Canadian and I still say Im 6' 2', not 186 cm or whatever it is. Everryone seems to know imperial over metric. lol forget it, who cares really.

I wish I had gotten bigger skis, but I wanted the 12s and I didn't have enough money for anything else. I want something like a 173-176. If you're still growing, get the bigger.

i think weight is the most important factor, i weigh 160 and would idealy ski like a 174

anyone under 140ish can ski a 160ish and anyone aboove 180 should deff ski 180s or bigger
