Using 2 8ft. long sections, each a foot wide at top and 3ft. on the bottom (Like a Triangle) Using wood for the box and Plexiglass to slide,

When we got the plexi we thought of a major issue, when edges rub against a corner/edge of the plexi it digs in and tears up the glass aswell as catches ur edge, is there an easy way to fix this? Do i HAVE to use Metal to line the sides or is there an alturnative? can i sand it down? HELP!!

hmmm I guess plexi is probably different than HDPE for edge catching. If you mean edge catching along the side edges of it, sanding the edges of down to an angle would probably work. Of course if you do put metal coping on the sides it will last longer and edges won't catch the plexiglass, plus teh box will look more professional.

No, sanding the sides will not help. The exact same thing happened with mine, it will crack and break with the first few times of hitting it, unless you put coping on it. Sounds strange, but I actually found an old pole vault pole, cut it roughly in half long-wise, and then used that. It just randomly works perfectly...But yeah, you need to get coping on it or it won't hold up.

coping is coping, no matter what you use. the only thing is that metal is more durable than PVC. but both will work.

plexi glass is definitly not the best material but if it works it works, and i would probley just run pvc down the side. just make sure its no more than like half and inch above the top seet

dont use the plexi glass me and my friend built a box he caught his edge once and the whole peice of glass shattered
