14 year old wanting damaged skis

Hi, I am Chase and I am 14 years old. I just joined NewSchoolers after years of reading threads on here and I am exited to be here! I powder ski, tour, and ski race. Skiing is like the best thing in the world and I look forward to winter so much.

I have been skiing for my whole life and last year I got into ski tuning and fixing. I have waxed, p-texed, and remounted bindings on many pairs of skis.

I am looking for any used or damaged skis with or without bindings. I want to try and fix any core shots, deep scratches and core problems in skis. My goal is to try and make the skis as close to mint condition as possible for my own entertainment (this is better than being on my phone in my opinion). I am preferably looking for newish skis, probably the last 10 years because that is what I know how to work on. I am 5' 11" so long skis are definitely welcome.

If you have a pair of skis you would like to donate I would happily take them. I would even pay shipping or even buy the skis from you if they are what I am looking for. Please personally message me on here if you have some. US and Canada ONLY please.

Looking forward to hearing from everyone.

I also think fixing skis up is super fun. So that gives you a little more motivation to go hard on the hill haha. And ski with some more fun. The harder/weirder it is for something to slide, the more fun it is. If ur busting your shit up then you’re doin it right out on the hill.

You are definitely right. I love to ski hard but it is a hard thing to do on new skis

I like the goal of this thread: to repair/tune instead of phone surf.

But you should know there are two kinds of skis: skis in plastic, and skis you ski.

In other words, if the skis are on your feet, let em rip. Don't worry about damage, shit happens. That's what your tuning bench is for! If you are hesitant to ski something because of the finish on your skis, stick between the gates. Otherwise, welcome to newschoolers.

That is why I am looking for used and damaged skis. I can turn skis someone used into a nice ski that I don’t mind using and abusing

Ive got a pair of 2018 b-dogs with a crooked mount and 10 inches of edge missing if your interested in a challenge.

Got a pair of volkl ledge on my buy and sell. 169cm I think. Worn ass edge basically all rounded and chippy topsheet. Theyre wicked skis though crazy flexy.

Got marker squire on em

I have some 184 Volkl M5's (2019?) where one is fine, the other went through a stupid repair where someone ground down the base and edge to be super thin, then on top of that, it had a core shot. Since then basically a ski shop has already practiced on it lol and put in a new section of base but shit is super uneven and the edge is tiny. These are some badass skis to get on edge but I'm not sure the proper fix. Potentially grinding it down and filling it perfect so that it is actually even? But personally I gave up on them. I've been on the lookout to just buy/ sell one ski but if you want a challenge that's maybe less of a challenge than replacing a whole edge, I'm located in CA if you are interested.

That seems like a interesting project. I sent you a DM

I have about 3-4 pairs of Revisions if you want em

You will have to pry my old skis out of my cold, dead hands...

But really, there's lots of stuff on ebay and local ski swaps, just picked up a pair of Seth Pistols for $40

Go to a local shop and ask em to give you whatever they're throwing out.

Honestly just try buy some super cheap used skis like kids skis at a second hand store or something like that then bang up the edges

I was thinking about trying that. I live in a smaller town so I don’t think there will be much that is getting thrown out tho
