12-18" expected: where was this storm a month ago?!

Logged onto TWC and saw my hometown on the front page (Johnstown) /claim.

12-18" expected in April! Anybody else getting some snow the next couple of days?

I just bought a new skateboard though...I really hope it doesn't snow here. I want sunny and dry everyday until next winter. I'd rather just try again then.

It's 77, bluesky, and breezy. It's gorgeous out, and I'm actually electing NOT to ski today because I have all summer to do that.

Oregon ftw.

75 where i am in Montana today, enjoying this weather so much, and if i really want to ski, i can always hike the local ski area.

Getting windy out here in buffalo. Kinda excited to see the snow fall one more time before summer.

You're confused, but that's ok. There are bad parts and good parts just like every other city.

Snow in the Forecast Wednesday through Friday here in Mammoth.

It was 75 and sunny today for the pond skim. I

no i'm not, i literally find LA as a whole to lack any charm what so ever, no personality, a vast majority of it is a war zone, it takes 3 hours to get from one side to the other, and all the while i'm wondering what the fuck is wrong with the people that chose to live there.

i'm not sure if it's the $4 iced coffee from some airhead barista or the ominous sense that there is a potential for violence at any given moment, but LA is my least favorite city I've ever been to.

LA has more bad parts spread across a larger area IMO.

yeah, it has some good here and there, and the amount of shit going on is phenomenal... but season in and season out, the best skiing is 6-8 hours away, and the traffic and smog are suffocating to the point where it' not worth it for many, including myself.

There are parts of LA that are shitty. There are parts that are amazing. The skiing 1 to 2 hours away is a lot better than anything we had in the mid west and I'm pretty sure there are plenty of kids on the east that would kill for a park like Bears (or even mt. high). The schooling is insanely affordable for the quality of a lot of the universities. UCLA is cheaper to attend than the University of Minnesota.

The traffic is only bad if you don't think to look at a clock. The metro system is way better than anyone gives credit. I can get from Downtown LA to Pasadena or Hollywood in 10 to 15 minutes on the metro. I, like many of my friends, have figured out that a car is a lot less important than we were giving credit to, so I sold it.

Sure there are other places that I love. Sure there are other places that are safer. But those places don't have the weather, the culture, the passion, the late night food delivery that LA has. It's not a place for everyone, but it doesn't mean anyone should call it a shit hole. Doesn't mean anyone should call anywhere a shit hole... unless of course it literally is a shit hole.

Yeah, theyre better if they have snow, but with ther current cycle, only 1/3 years do those mountains even open everything up. Yeah, they have insane snowmaking to ease the pain of snow-less winters, but there's a reason so many people roll 6 hours up to June and Mammoth, and it's not just because Mammoth is miles ahead in size and resort status, it's because it has insanely consistant snowfall - something that can't be said for Bear or Baldy or Mt. Waterman or whatever else is claimable down there.

UCLA is cheaper to attend on TUITION, perhaps (although, each year that tuition is getting raised like thermometer in sun in San Bernardino in August)... but the cost of living in Pasadena is surely MUCH higher than it is in Minnesota. Oh, and lets not even go into how hard it is to get into that school, or how unaffordable it is for one paying out of state tuition. I left California for school, and because I payed less than half of the living costs of California, the out of state cost of school wasn't so hard to swallow.

The traffic is fucking retarded. I have never been in LA and not seen a traffic jam. My dad lived in Ontario when I was growing up, and I flew down there on the reg. I got a taste of LA traffic and grew to hate it with a passion - only to find the same traffic back home in the East Bay Area - prompting me to grow some homely contempt. I will say however - LA drivers are a bit less derp-out than drivers in East coast cities - mainly because the infrastructure isn't from horsebuggy days...

As you know, much of the LA area is sprawling suburbs that go for miles on end. There's so many freeways there that connect everything, sure, but god damn it gets old trying to get around trying to figure out which "Santa" you're in.. lol.

I understand that you want to defend Socal, as I'd defend my beloved northern california to the end all the same... but you must realize there's a lot of people who cannot stand the place. I'll assert this much - LA's better than Vegas or Phoenix... or oh god... Houston.

Silly to bother with mass generalizations. They only reflect upon the person making them.

People live places because said place suits their needs. There is no need to rag on a place unless you are doing it for a specific reason.. like holy shit that place is dangerous... in which Compton is only the 36th most dangerous place in the US. Darn...

If you wan't to complain about traffic, ok, traffic in LA sucks if you live 40 miles from work, but that's your choice. If you're on vacation, well, should have checked google maps and planned a little better or chose to take advantage of the massively underused safe public transportation.

If you can't handle 10 million incredibly diverse individuals, don't. But don't insult every one of them by calling it a shit hole.

Rach, I've lived in Oakland, and I "hella love Oakland". People call it a shithole all the time and rag on it. Can't get on your soapbox every 10 seconds just to defend it.

Also... "Only the 36th most dangerous" is PRETTY FUCKING dangerous. haha. They didn't center a whole Grand Theft Auto game around Compton for no reason. Place is notorious for crime and civic corruption. Don't even add onto that, or try to defend it. Just leave it at that. C'est la vie...

For the record: Oakland is ranked more dangerous than Compton.

I suppose NSG isn't the place to get into why ethnocentrism is bad and why one shouldn't impress their personal opinions onto others. But I don't like when people insult the place and people I love because of their bad experience.

Now back to the topic. Snow... Stoked people are getting some more. Even if your resort is closed, perfect time to go on a little hike or set up a feature or something. And if you are looking forward to summer... meh, that's ok, but come august.. you'll have the itch again. I have it year round.

Oakland IS dangerous. If you're not white or in a gang - like Compton. or East. St. Louis.. or anywhere on that list. Also...

Oakland's crime rates are hilarious, because like 75% of the civic crimes are Marijuana possession based lol. The Courthouse literally reeks of weed because most of the people in there are all just stoners who got busted for illegally growing/having more than they were allowed to have on their card/distribution/whatever. I don't know what other places are like on there, I haven't lived there, but Oakland's fucking goofy.
