1080 GUN & 1080 FOIL

I know the gun Lab has been around, but Salomon is making a 1080 gun for mainstream in 06. From what I see is is the same as the pocket rockets. Anyone got some info. Also the 1080 Foil. Any info in these new skis?

its actually the 1080 S LAB.... someone told me about it...but i cant remember anything...i think it might be stiffer than the foil for pipe....im probably wrong though

The 1080 gun is the pocket rocket, period. the 1080 foil is a new ski. Sidecut is consistent across lengths, so the waist width varies as the length changes. Goes from 82 or 83 in the shortest size to 87 in the longest. Some of the best edge grip I have ever experienced in a salomon ski. I didn't have it in the park, just on frozen granular death cookies, and it skied great. Not a traditional salomon fan, but I really liked it....

 
i could have sworn they changed the shape a bit from the PR to the guns, but i could be wrong. and on another note, when is salomon going to realize their edges suck?

 
the guns are the same as the pocket rockets, the thrusters are same as 1080's, the foils are the only new ski, except for some wich ppl have that are same as the CR's and Candide's but those were only prototype and won't be sold

hmm I saw a pic of the GUNS and their shape was nothing like the pocket rockets, and the skis next to them were brown with orange and they had the exact same shape as the pocket rockets.

there are no Brown salomons for next year, after a month of listening to JP and Tim the salomon tent guys at momentum u learn these things

those white skis you're referring to are the S-LAB GUNS, which are a new ski. the regular guns are those brown and orange skis you're talking about. those are the same as the pocket rocket. the foils are new. thrusters are 1080s. the end.

S-labs are baby blue, and the owner of my local shop said the gun is the "new pocket rocket", and yes I've seen a pocketrocket I own a pair thanks

To end the "guns are or are not the pocket rocket" controversy, how's this: I am a buyer for a large ski shop, and attended the brand release put on by salomon for top shops last spring, as well as the SIA show in Vegas. I have spoken about the new line with the senior VP for product at salomon, and we are all quite clear that the 1080 Gun is EXACTLY the same ski as the current Pocket Rocket. The Lab ski IS different, and promises to be pretty cool, but only available in huge sizes. Think AK Rocket Lab meets Pocket Rocket shape...

they actually use both foam and wood, and they're not bad, i like um

the guns are pockets and the gun pros are like fatter foils with a race base. foils are a super fun ski to ride, but for pipe i would stick to the thrusters

As said Pocket Rocket = Gun, it is identical except for new graphics, so if you want it just get last year's Pocket Rockets, seen em for like $250 US online.

Gun Lab is apparently a pretty sweet ski from what I've been hearing, much burlier than PR. The guys must have been using a PR Promodel in past seasons hehe.

well, there 1000 dollars this year, so not worth it at all. buy lines, or last years, thats what i have, and im using them again this year.

 
No, shit. At some point it became trendy to hate on salomon and Msp got thrown in there aswell. FOAM CORE FOAM CORE BLAH BLAH, Tons of skis out there have composite cores with weird materials.

i have seen them both in person... salamon shipped their skis already to the shop where i work.... the gun isn't that much wider than the foil the gun is more expensive tho... i doubt they put in the gun to replace the pocket rocket...

 
Well when they are fat as shit I would call 188 long, look at gotamas the longest they make for those is 190, Msp's the longest they make it 187. If its fat having it excessivley long isn't really helping much in my opinion

The Fischer Prohete is 190cm with a 106mm waist. It's bigger. The Fischer Watea is a 192cm with a 101mm waist. It too, is bigger.

In fact, nearly every ski company has a ski that is bigger than the S-Lab Gun.

And that's all I can think off the top of my head. I think the Armada JPvs.Julien as well as the ANT are both bigger. I think the 4FRNT VTC is bigger.
