$1000 to spend on 1 sony item. What should I get?

Hey NS,

So I'm lucky enough to have $1000 (USD) voucher to spend on a single sony item, tried to use it to put it towards a more expensive item but that's not possible.

Preferably I would like to get something video related, mic or lens but my knowledge of sony equipment (bar their cameras) is limited. If nothing is really worth it il prob get a TV or something as close to $1000 and sell it.

Current setup is an FS7 with various canon lenses. I have a shotgun and lav mic already but perhaps I need backups. As canon lenses need an adapter I was maybe thinking a nice sony lens would be useful, but are any $1000 or under worth it?

Spark Notes: is there anything worth my time video related for $1000 or less from sony?

Thanks all

What lenses do you currently have?

Also, what accessories do you have for your FS7? It may be of more value to get additional equipment for your FS7 specifically. For example, put that money towards additional XQD Cards, batteries, etc.

Otherwise, a TV + PS4 sounds nice too.

All Canon: 24-105, 70-200, 16-35, 85.

Various old primes which are ok. 50 and 24 are the only ones I really use.

I would totally do that if I could spend the money on multiple items but I can only choose one. So if I pick an XQD card then I can only get 1 card which is a bummer as the value is less than half of the voucher :( So with your example I can get a TV or PS4, not both. I guess what I'm really asking is if there is one item close to $1000 which is worth it?

Ahhh, didn't read close enough, I just say the $1k limit, didn't realize you are actually restricted to only one single item from Sony. Sorry!

Hmm... I think you are set with the lenses you have. Nothing in the $1k price range can come close to replacing the lenses you already have. There's no real accessories from Sony that I can think of in that $1k price range for the FS7 other than if you had interest in their shoulder rig w/ rails for a FF or something + $100 out of pocket.

Obv not top of the line, but you could also get a A7 or a77 ii for right under that $1k limit.

No worries dude. Yea that was pretty much my thoughts as well but wanted to ask in-case anyone new anything I didn't. I don't know if its worth getting a second wireless lav mic as I hear the Sony ones work well with the FS7?

Otherwise I guess I can get something like the A7, try sell it and use that money for accessories or put it towards something more expensive worth while.
