$10 New Skis

Yes, you read that right. New skis, for $10.

Today I was on lunch break, sitting in my car, when I get a text from a friend who I was helping pick out skis.

"Am I seeing this right???" - He provided a screenshot of skis listed on evo.com for a whopping $10.00

I was skeptical, and they weren't even amazing skis. He then showed me that k2 Reckoner 92's were the same price. I was very confused.

He then decided to buy them, why the heck not. HE GOT THE EMAIL RECEIPT, AND IT WAS TRUE!!! $10.00 SKIS!!!

I decided to try it myself. Went to evo.com and sorted by lowest price. aaaand wouldn't ya know, a whopping selection of skis for $10.

I bought myself some Line Outline's for that price, and once I received the confirmation email, all hell broke loose.

I began texting everyone who I knew that skied, friends, cousins, my older brother [tag=137890]@tri_photo[/tag], my boss, even my california cousin's boyfriend.

Word spread around quick, and now we all have skis coming to us for dirt cheap. Sadly, before I could buy a few more pairs the website was fixed and the skis returned to normal price.

[tag=137890]@tri_photo[/tag] talked to evo customer service to confirm the price, and they basically said that it was a horrible mistake, and it was our lucky day. Stand up move to honor the price evo.

To my knowledge, 10ish pairs of skis were bought, so evo lost $6.5 of skis. (My math is probably off.)

My good friend bought 5 pairs and picked up two in store today

So yep, I got brand new skis for $25 total. Going to flip them and buy a nicer helmet to protect my noggin.

Also if anyone is interested in mint condition 2021 Line Outlines (186cm) DM me.

thats awesome, i saw another thread and wasnt sure what to think. I honestly think this has happened to evos website a couple times when they are updating sale items

I sold 2014 armada's to a friend awhile ago for 20 dollars cause his ski's were ass, they were good ski's. He showed up a week later with 2020 edollo's. Feels bad man.

I once found a price glitch on an unnamed bike website with. $5000 DH bike listed for $1200. I tried to but it, but they canceled the order and didn’t even have the decency to send me a email letting me know it was mistake and they couldn’t honor it.

Don't drown in sad tears. Remember the good times. The day of feeling on top of the world. The thought of gliding down the slopes this season on your brand new cheap AF skis. Today was a loss, there's no way around that, but hold on to the good feels this season. You may be skiing a pair of shit planks, or dropping 700 bucks on some of that new, but you can always ski 10 new planks in your soul. They can cancel the order, but they can never take that feeling away from you!

Why did y’all start bragging about it smh, was thinking my order would go thru ?‍♂️

You're dumber than I thought if you actually thought EVO wouldn't noticed someone buying skis for $10.

Few years ago when the Amazon Echo Dot came out they ran a promo that you got $50 off your order (the price of the unit) if you added one to your next purchase. They forgot to create logic to ensure that the customer already HAD at least $50 worth of goods in their cart so you could basically buy one, claim the discount and get the unit for free. People loaded tf up. Guy I worked with got like 25 of them and was going to give them as Christmas gifts.

Amazon is a fucked up mega corp tho so they cancelled the orders and gave everyone like $5 in store credit so props on EVO for letting these go thru.

They canceled the orders, why would they let it go through? Literally giving away product isn't a good business strategy.

Ya hadnt read the rest of the thread before I posted.

Also... it depends on the Customer acq/experience vs. cost of goods. Can be beneficial in some situations. I work in ecommerce and we ran a promo last Black Friday where someone fucked up the WS cost entry for this little nightlight/lamp thing. Like 2000 people got one for free but rather than cancel the orders we fulfilled them because we know those customers are much more likely to come back to us in the future, place repeat orders, likely for larger ticket items. Happens all the time on airlines as well, but yeah, not surprised EVO cancelled the skis

You’re a absolute retard, my friends buddy got called and they said it was a glitch, but would still honor the price since the order went through.

Could have been before they realized how many people bought / or possibly catching wind of the bragging going on afterwards that changed their minds.

gosh damn you’re so dense in the head sometimes

It’s incredible the ego you have. Calling members dumb while simultaneously having some of the most idiotic shit takes on here is a absolute joke. Just because you’ve been skiing for awhile doesn’t mean you’re smart. I think all that fat made it into your skull somehow.

You really didn't have to quote me again, I already read your response and decided to stop having an argument with your dumbass, get out of my notifications.

Oh is that a new rule now? I can’t quote eheath when he says some dumb shit for the millionth time?

At first, I talked to customer service, and they were going to let it go through. I'm guessing an executive pulled the plug on it.

Me calling someone stupid because they thought Evo was going to let people buy skis for $10 is completely reasonable, sorry you dont agree, doesn't mean im wrong or you're right, it just means some people don't think when they make conclusions.

Imagine if evo was selling a Santa Cruz V10 with fox factory suspension for $10

It’s not that you're wrong, it’s just that you’re always an asshole about it

Building a good relationship with clients is a good strategy though. So is owning your mistakes and keeping your word. That’s what Evo had initially done for us. [tag=137890]@tri_photo[/tag] is the one who talked to evo when they said that they would own it and fulfill the orders. If they followed through with that statement they likely would’ve had customers loyalty for life, and made that money back fairly quickly. If I got those skis I would’ve flipped them, turned around, and bought more products from evo.

with all due respect, get ratio’d.

You're the second person to say this, that's a great lesson in college but in reality Evo isn't gonna lose a 40k because 100 people were able to order $10 skis because of a programmer typo.

Yeah, at no time in four years of studying marketing did I hear allowing a technical error to give away thousands of dollars in inventory as a marketing strategy with a strong ROI. If Evo has to let this slide in order to get and retain customers they would have already failed.

Fucking cracked me up.

Also [tag=38820]@eheath[/tag] i seriously want to buy you beers and pick your brain. You’re in PC right? I can’t believe how you’re getting clowned for pointing out an obvious fact. I was gob fucking smacked when people said evo would honor it. I was like “no fucking way”. In no planet would it work out. It might even generate negative publicity because other people would feel jilted for paying too much.

It was kind of you to share this, but sometimes there's just no way to help the others.

It's kinda like showing your secret stash. One pair of $10 skis may just have slipped through, 20 pair did not, tracked out.

very few things in life are sadder and make you look stupider than

the ability to own your fails

Guy I know talked to evo and they were originally going to honor the skis bought with the glitch. They last minute decided to rescind it. But ya, keep up with your comments man??

what they "were" going to do is completely irrelevant, but thanks for the response i guess.

Yes because owning a business is akin to being a naval captain right? Oh yeah give them the skis even if it costs us our paychecks. You would have made the same call they did if the shoes were switched.

ida given em the skis at cost if i had a company that couldnt survive not making bank on every transaction

or not said weed honor our fuckup in the first place

at the end of the day your either "of your word" or not

or cost + 10% is what our company charges employees

in non sorry we fucked up and couldnt properly list items deals
