I'm sitting in DIA with free wifi and time to kill. I hope there's some sweet mixtape article of all the rad shit that happened this year on the front page soon. Maybe? yes? If not. post you're top 5 skiing (newschool based) stories of the year in here please, here mine:
1. Shane leaving. - Skiing was changed by him and will never be the same
2. Tom Wallisch presented to the world - Dew Tour, Dumont Cup, JOSS makes him most influential jibber on the block.
3. Web Series madness - Started with Nimbus and is continued with TC, CASG, Jon, Chug and anyone with iMovie
4. L1P/WME Mayhem - Made people make loud noises, everyone loves sticking it to the man and it introduced Warren Miller (the person) to a whole new generation of people and unearthed the heartless joke that is WME.
5. Poorboyz shake up - with the addition of Jeff Thomas and filming 95% of the best skiers in the world (and a bit too many AMs) they popped off a movie with more bangers than an Oakland street on a Sunday afternoon
Notables:
- Jibij closes doors - Josh Bishop doesn't even sell the brand, just vanishes. Lettign down the team of 800 skiers and definatlely hurting the Karma rating of joshbryant
- Afterbang introduced - I'm biased but if you understood the hard work behind making a 100% new way of making a ski, its a big deal for sure.
- Will Wesson nominated 3 of 5 nominations for Best Jib at the PVAs - Unprecedented and beating Tanner and Sammy?!
- Seth Morrison winning rider of the year in the Readers Poll, being #1 six times in the 9 years of the PVAs exsistence, #2 three times.
- Tanner Hall breaking both legs AGAIN
- Dane Tudor showing big mountain can be steezy
