I like armadas like the way they ride but i have about 20 days on myne and only 3 days of none park and my top sheet is chipping super easy. like on my tail on one ski is at the wood core in like a inch square. is it just a random or is something wrong with my skiin to make it do that or do the ar6s usally chip?

Nahh dude, thats normal Armada for ya. I had those same skis last year and after one session, the top sheets were screwed. But all skis end up chipping away at some point. They still rip with or without a nice topsheet.

my friend has the exact same ski and im actually how well theyre holding up. he skied them half of last year.

Yep, they do chip really easily. The rest of the ski seems to be really solid, but the topsheet material is almost like lexan and chips easily.

i get really small splinters if i slide my hand down the side wall of the ski.

that sucks. seems like glass fiber splinters or something.

anybody else have that?

my topsheet is also chipped, but mainly at the tips. from mute grabs n stuff.

its not bothering me much though. i think they look better like that.

shows that you throw down hard :D

it'll chip for a while really fast, but once it reaches a certain point it stops. It's pretty common for most top sheets to chip, but once you wear away the normal chipping spots it's not as bad.

Yeah mine have chipped away a bit, not too badly tho. But any ski used in the park will have this problem, but armada has a few new 2010 skis that have a super durable topsheet, if you look in the construction technology on their website it will tell you.

i have 07/08s and they are destroyed cosmetically. i was told that sanding the edges of your top shit to slightly round them off helps, but i did not bother with it. once it starts chipping more splinters occur when you touch them. great ski. shit top sheet.

well i will be skiing mine for the first time this weekend so i sanded down my topsheet/sidewall part hoping it wont chip as much, but i know its going to happen. and when i was trying to get the "dust" off from sanding, i ran my hand down the topsheet/ sidewall and now i have these invisible glass splinters all through my hand.

FIX YOUR DAMN TOPSHEETS ARMADA!

dude i hate that about my ar6s.

you cant get the splinters out either.

its such a strange pain. like you have to itch, but it hurts when you itch.

never had that with a ski before

if you REALLY want to prevent chipping take a razor blade and put a 45 degree bevel on the top sheet - so run the blade down the side of the top sheet at a 45 degree angle. It wont make it stop completely but it will help a bit.
It's not just Armada - it happens with A LOT of skis, but its all cosmetic anyways.

sorry for dub post..

but yeah its terrible. i got them really bad and had a hockey game right after i did it, and dear lord playing with all of those splinters in your hand sucks. as we speak i'm picking at them right now

I just bought the 08-09 ar6's at the end of last year got them for a steal, haven't used them yet though....anyway my friend had the 08-09 and they look almost perfect and he probably skied about 40 days on them?

I suppose you could, but you'd have to do pretty deep, I'm talking about just taking a shaving off, just enough to make it so the corner ins't as sharp.

is it possible to chip the edge/topsheet of your ski deep enough that it will affect the core? like would you be able to see it?

yes, but its EXTREMELY difficult because you have to go through a layer of fiberglass after the top sheet which is difficult.

yes you can chip the top sheet to the core if you hit it hard enough. if i haappens and you notice it (check over your skis every night) go to a hardware store and get some epoxy and fill the hole because you DONT want water to get inside your core!! bad things can happen! or your shop can do it! but its really simple

somewhat armadas topsheets, but also youre skiing. i learned how to ski on some ar6s and im still using them a year later. mine are totally fine. and i have had quite a few days on them.

I think they purposely make the top sheets not so great so that two years go by and you are basically forced to buy new skis if you ride them enough. But there are many things you can do to increase the life of your skis. I have taken a razor blade down mine to smooth it a little bit and after i sanded it down even more. It is much better than before but it will always happen, its unavoidable. Google or youtube it and there is tons of info
