07 Rossignol Scratch BC vs. 08 Rossignol Scratch Brigade

Ok so i'm 5'9" 135lbs. i ski fairly aggresive for my size on a very small hill (400 feet) in SE indiana. i'd say i'm an advanced skier.

lately i've been looking for a fat or midfat ski to ski the rest of my hill, and maybe take to the park if i don't want to change out skis to my troublemakers. i kind of want something a little bit softer considering my size and the size of my hill. so i've been researching the armada ARV, the salomon gun, the blend, the bridge, the nordica enforcer, and lastly the rossi brigade.

i've really been looking at the rossi brigade/bc. the amazing reviews the BC got last year really caught my eye. but this year the brigade didn't get such a hot rating, but people are saying it was a lot more fun for smaller, lighter riders. has anyone had experience on these skis to give me some input on them

also if anyone has any other suggestions for skis that would be great for me, im open.i'm looking at these more mainstream skis because i get shop form prices on them. the brands my shop carries and i can get deals from are like volkl, rossignol, dynastar, 4frnt, line, nordica, maybe fischer, salomon, atomic, blizzard, elan, and k2. amd i'm happy to consider from these brands

sorry this is so long, but you know how stressful these decisions can be

your way to light for the birgade, there stiff as fuck and idk why you need a ski like that for a 400 ft hill...

if you wanna go wider get somthing you can still use in park really well, the anthem is wide as hell and would be a good all around ski so is the bridge or the old BCs i guess i just really dont like the Brigade... I have the ARV for a park ski for this year and im planning getting anthems so clearly in my opinion i thing there the best

well i'll only be on the 400 ft hill for another season and i plan on taking a trip or two during the season

okay well i really think the Anthem is amazing 93 wasit to float and a great park ski packed full of technology, Giray rides at my mountain and he had them late spring this year and he loved them and that pretty much sold them for me... im just waiting for my ebay auctions to end and im buying my pair

wwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaattttt? the way i see it, the brigades feel really soft, like from flexing them in the shop, i know thats not like skiing, but still

im pretty sure their both the same ski, just differnt graphic.

varying reviews are prolly based on who payed freeskier more for an ad.

the scratch steeze is what replaces the bc i believe, get the bc's tho they are cheap and i see a few pairs come up on here dirty cheap

uhhh brigades r not stiff. theyre medium, even soft.

straight from rossignol- "Soft flexing tips and tails and stiff mid section improve balance and provide spring for mounting rails and hopping atop half-pipes"

really, cause i rode them and they were so stiff, im 6'1'' 175 and they were a bitch the getto was so much nicer

Scratch bc and scratch brigade are the same dimensions this year and last. It is fairly soft, a bit stiffer than a k2 seth and a good deal lighter. I think the 178 sounds like a good ski for you. THey may have changed the core for this coming season though.

just get the 07 bc wrs and save some money. they have the same construction, only different graphics

haha yeah. the 175 arv is also a definite possibility. i was just wondering if the brigade is the exact same or different to the brigade. but i'll probably be able to get the brigade for the same price as last years bc's so it won't make a differnce.

but someone said the brigade was stiffer than the seth. i was told the seth was a little stiffer

The Brigade is stiffer than last years BC. At least to me it skied stiffer. I did not like the BC, but I quite liked the Brigade. If I were wanting a one ski park/powder/all mtn ski, the Brigade would be high on the list.

i ski the rossi and im only 5'5 125 pounds

i would definetely get the scratch,

better design,

fatter ski,

better stability i think you will find than the brigade

wait...first what size do you ride? i assume 171. but what do you mean when you say definitely get the scratch? both the BC and Brigade are Scratches. are you saying get the BC over the Brigade? because both are 98 underfoot

I thought the rossignol rep told me it was the same ski for next year. I'd just get some 06/07 I know I saw some in Whistler for like 450 CDN which is an awesome deal for Whistler so I'm sure u could get them for 350 online.

iv'e skied the brigade and ive skied last years BC and they ski way different..the BC was MUCH stiffer than the Brigade..

The Brigades are nice and soft in tip/tail but hold good stiffness through the midsection - which is why many reviews tell the larger, heavier skiers to get something a bit burlier than the brigade.

Brigade would be a great choice, but as said - i'd also look at an ARV

straight up, those rave reviews on last years bc's were by people who dont know whats up with park skiing. Old bc's were way to stiff to have fun on(im 6ft 160pds), brigades look way sicker, those would kill it for what you wanna do.

9thward firstbloods would be fuckin sick to, or maybe LTs

these really aren't gonna be my park ski. it'll me my groomer ski and pow ski when i get to some. if these skis do get taken into the park it'll be only for a jumps, absolutely no rails

but to silence...the 175 arvs are are definite possibity, i loved last years, i'm going to have to wait a little to hear some reviews on people who've skied them because they've been tweaked a little this year from last. but also i'm likin the idea of the extra 6mm on the rossi's

has anyone done any backcountry on bc's? im wondering how they are weight wise for hiking and stuff and are they fat enough for lots of pow

bc's are super fun. exact same ski as the brigade. super light, pretty soft, really quick. i ski at snowtrails a couple hours up the road from you and they rock for midwest groomers. i've also skied them in utah and they're the shit for all mountain. they kill it in the park too. so really they pretty much run shit all over the moutnain. you aren't going to want to ride your trouble makers anymore.

thanks for all the responses, i've been thinking more and more and it's pretty much down to 175 arvs and the brigade, the final question though is 171 or 178 for the brigade?

178 and mount them centered. i skied the bcs most of the season on an east coast 600 foot hill and they skied the whole thing well. i got them because i wanted a ski that does everything well and was fat enough for the couple trips i took out west/random powder days in vermont. the bcs are a lil stiffer than the seths too

I've been skiing the 185 brigades since last year and love them. I bought them as my powder ski and ended up riding them every day. The only place I have a problem with them is in the trees.

I have 04-05 Scratch BCs (90mm waist) that I bought new before last year and used 10-15 days. I'm thinking $250 shipped but make me an offer.
