    Olympic Girls Snowboarding

Yeah, I saw the men on Sunday and figured the pipe wasn't as big as the one in Aspen. But the women were going much higher and harder than at the X-Games. Clark got robbed though. No way the Norwegian deserved the bronze over Clark's first run.

Can I get an invite to the backcountry one also? Thx, from Somerville...

    What's open at Wachusett?

I was thinking about going to Wachusett tonight. Do they have any park open, or was it all trashed by the rain? It's been cold the last few days so they should at least have been making snow. Is the halfpipe open?

Who had the best 1080 besides TJ?

The guy who did the 180 spread eagle just to switch up for the big jump should have won. I thought it was a daffy, but yeah, that was beautiful. (It was Hatveit, right?) I'd go with Bushfield and Wester for at least doing something different, especially since Bushfield stomped the landing on...

    Kumho tires

What I thought was funny is that the Kumho and iTunes commercials were almost identical. Same colors, same animation, almost the same music. Anyway, it beat the usual X-Games lineup of the same Method Man and Redman deodorant commercial over and over again.

What tricks do world-class moguls guys throw now?

Going into the Olympics, I realize I haven't seen any mogul comps since the last Olympics. What airs do they need now to win? I think they're throwing cork 7's and D-spin 3's, with some people trying 10's, right? What do the women have nowadays?

    Rail landings

Usually coming off switch feels more natural because you spin off the same way you spun on so you can flow through it.

    Where pipe needs to go

A few years ago, Boyd Easley was saying how he's sick of big air contests. He said something like 'Everybody always talks about how style is more important than hucking more technical tricks, and then in every contest all they do is throw hideous switch 1080s'. Personally, I like seeing Dumont...

    Snowboard Superpipe

The women's comp was really flat, although it didn't help that ESPN showed two hours of motocross and Brian Deegan's x-rays instead of the first round, so we never saw Bleiler's winning run. What surprised me was that most of them (except Bleiler, Teter and the Japanese girl) took way too much...

    Get Lost Moto X

I used to be into the FMX, but over the last few years: 1) It got way overexposed -- three or four nights, summer AND winter!?! 2) The backflip killed it. For a few years, somebody with nothing but a backflip could go out and beat difficult technical tricks. It's only in the last year or two...

    older free skiers?

I'm not as old as undercover_skier, but still older than anyone else here. I'm frequently twice as old as the oldest kid in the park and -- I love it! I don't get any attitude, I love the energy and balls you young 'uns bring and rails are a hell of a lot more fun than skiing intermediate...

    Tell me about Glen Plake!

It's just piling on at this point, but -- I met him at a moguls event and, yes, he's a terrific, friendly guy and a phenomenal skier.

    I Saw Bode Miller Thread

I met Plake at the Olympics -- super-friendly and enthusiastic. Bode Miller is kind of a punk by reputation, but he really is a phenomenal skier.

What's a good online clothing store?

Any suggestions on a good online store for ski clothing? Siver, Sessions, Orage, stuff like that? Preferably with last season stuff still on clearance.

    Learning to ollie

So, I got a skateboard, started messing around and can now ollie about a half inch up, some of the time. This seems like somthing you just need to hit over and over until you get it wired, but does anyone have any tips for getting it right? 'Ha ha, you suck' comments welcome, as long as you...

Line with chick skis? Lets not make another bad decision.

'While it's true, there aren't a lot of core jibber girls in skiing, there really aren't that many in snowboarding either. I think it's important to point out that just because a girl snowboards, doesn't mean she does cork 3s off the sixty foot table in the park, and a just because we're making...

    What's a good first skateboard?

I've been thinking about trying to pick up some skateboarding over the summer. What's a good size board/wheels/whatever to start with for street skating? (I'm about 5'6, 140 lbs.) Or are they all pretty much they same? I just don't want to get the skateboard equivalent of DH skis to start with.

U of U and Cali colleges

There's no comparison -- UU basically has Alta, Snowbird and (the very underrated) Solitude as local areas. The closest comparable school to Tahoe is probably Nevada-Reno, and that's further and not nearly as good a school. There are plenty of schools in the Bay Area and Central Valley, but you...

    Thanks for your tips, everyone!!!

It's time to call it a year (except maybe a last trip to Tuckerman) and I want to thank everyone for all the help I've gotten from you guys this year, in answers to my questions and to everyone else's. Score at the end of the year: * Got 180s wired, off drops and tabletops, still underspinning...

    Tuckerman's Ravine

Nice thing is -- it gets steeper as you climb higher into the bowl. So if you're not comfortable skiing exposed 45-55 degrees (I'm not, especially in May with legs completely hacked from the climb up) you don't have to. Hike to where you're comfortable, click in and have fun. The scene is fun...
