will i fit into a small helmet (55.5 cm) if my head's 56 cm?

will it really make a difference if i get a helmet that's 1cm too big for my head? the next size up (is the only one available) is a large which is 57cm to 59cm and my head is 56 cm. will it really make a difference? like tolerable or like no, dont buy it
