    Stiff Powder Skis?

I love my prophet 100s, as I've noted several times on this forum. The kill powder, trees, steeps, etc. and are stiffer than most wide skis. The Mojo105s are supposed to be incredible skis and are probably the stiffest twins out there. They're also about $800, which is pretty pricey. The B4s...

    Whistler Trip

It depends on a lot like what you want to ski when you're there, when in the spring you're going, and whether you plan on doing any heli/cat skiing as well. Whistler is amazing and, whatever you're into skiing-wise, you're likely find it there. So think about what kind of skiing you really...

Revelstoke soon to have 6000 ft of lift-served vertical

I doubt it'll rain on all 6000 ft of vertical. Besides, it's the same at the bottom of Whistler, which is hardly a shitty resort. Also, Jackson, Sun Valley, Big Sky, Taos, Mt. Bachelor and many other popular ski resorts are more or less located in the middle of nowhere. Anyhow, if it's...

    Backcountry freeskiers

Only if you ride switch more than 50% of the time. As mentioned above, the long-ass tail is going to make you do a lot more work in the pow. It'd also probably be hard to whip around in tight trees and chutes and make your skis less stable when flying through crud.

How many of you guys lift weights?

Compound excercise will make you much stronger (and bigger, if that's what you want) than isolation exercise. For the most part, forget isolation excercises like leg extensions, concentration curls, and most excercises done by machine, and do big-boy compound excercises like squats, deadlifts...

How many of you guys lift weights?

I do two or three times a week during the ski season. I try to be careful about when I do squats and deadlifts though.

Revelstoke soon to have 6000 ft of lift-served vertical

http://www.biglines.com/articles_readmore.php?article=1&read=3348 I know where my 2008 ski vacation will be.

    Weird leg pain

I might have a similar problem. The muscles beneath my calf and knees but above my ankles gets really tender. I skied about 20 days this year without problem. Then, on the 21st, I could barely put any pressure on the front of my boots. It's really only a problem when I ski consecutive days...

Push named "movie of the year"

Haven't seen Push yet, but I love MSP films. And the teaser for Push is pure ski porn: http://www.youtube.com/v/zWtILqitQT8 I also think that which films people like depends on their age and what they like to ski. I'm older (by this board's standards) and like big mountain more than park, so...

    Snowcross = Gay

I think ESPN does the snowcross races just to get good crash footage to show during their Winter X montages. The gnarly snowcross crashes make games look more "extreme."

    Candide just got serrrrrrrved

Fair enough. I guess I just don't see what the actual criticism of Candide is here. Then again, maybe I shouldn't expect journalistic excellence from EXPN.

    Candide just got serrrrrrrved

I don't think the author of this thread knows what it means to "get served." "In France, Candide is considered a national hero, because he often retreats and cannot be found." Candide "often retreats"? Please explain that one to me. Candide brings it in every comp and film segment he does...

    Not impressed ...

Agree. I think snowboarding is pretty cool and all. And it looks fun as fuck in powder. But, to me (a non-snowboarder), all their tricks look the same: I can't tell the difference between frontside and backside, the grabs all look alike, and 95% of their tricks are basic spins. I'm not...

    Simon's double front flip 180

I saw it on tv (slope-style recap) and thought it was pretty cool. Even if it was a little aerialist, at least it was different. 97% of the tricks thrown were some kind of corked spin.

    TANNER WINS!

It's a judged sport, so, whatever . . . . Still, in my book: (1) Simon (2) Andreas (3) Tanner and Pete And, yes, it did appear that Tanner was trying to fellate the microphone. I'm sure his boyz in Provo are excited.

    New skis advice

70% backcountry and 30% park is a tough combination. I'd go with something with at least 98mm underfoot. But no matter what ski you get, they're not going to be great in both the backcountry and the park. At best they'll be great in one and servicable in the other. I'd focus on the...

    Biggest trick u attempted??

Beyond cliff hucks, a lincoln loop once. I don't remember much about the jump after crashing other than (a) I came nowhere near landing it and (b) gappers were "oohhing" my crash. No injuries, just confusion.

    1 Jump + 20 rails = Not a "Park"

It's true, I'm all kinds of ungrateful. I live in AK and we've already gotten more snow this season that the East Coast will probably get over the next three years. Still, a lot of the rails here are built up with ample snow, so there's no such excuse. All I want is maybe one jump per 3-5...

    Ski foood?!

While skiing: some form of bar and a can of red bull. After: beer and nachos.
