I had the same problem. What worked was: I downloaded the file, renamed it to cross_in6.b3d, and then dragged it into my jibberish folder. It asked if I wanted to replace the existing file, and I said yes.

I think most ski games are played mostly by people who don't have a ton of passion for skiing. Super realistic games probly wouldn't be as fun for them as they would be for us.
