    My Homemade Skis

well, from your pics it seems like you took a single piece of wood and simply profiled it right? Normally, you would take that single piece of wood and rip it into strips (1/2' - 1')with your tablesaw. Then you would glue/laminate these strips together. This way you elimanate all the...

    My Homemade Skis

Nice job man. Those skis look just like the first couple of pairs I've made - black with the white sidewalls. I noticed that you're somewhere around Seattle right? I've got a cousin who's making his own skis around that area with some friends. By the way, why didn't you vertically laminate...

    Brused ribs

dude I wouldn't go to the doctor if you can jump up and down and do 3's and stuff. Just lay off the serious stuff until it feels good. I've bruised my ribs about 3 times now and I've learned that all you can do is wait. You might want to check your insurance policy first if you do go to the...

Has anyone skied any of the lines in Squallywood?

I was asking if anyone on Newschoolers has done them and I was refering to the higher ranked lines. Not the pansy ones.

Has anyone skied any of the lines in Squallywood?

I was just thumbing through the Squallywood book today and noticed that the majority of the lines are ridiculous. Has anyone done any of these?

    Brused ribs

They may not be broken or cracked. I bruised my ribs really badly at Alta last season and the guys at the Snowbird clinic x-rayed me and said it wasn't broken or cracked. Just bruised. It hurt like hell and I couldn't lay down, breath, or move without some serious pain. There was nothing...

    use a spotter

I saw another guy almost kill himself on the Fingers yesterday (Sunday). Guy dropped a line right underneath the chair and launched about 30ft. straight to rock and almost face planted onto another rock. I saw him later on near the bottom of the lift and he looked like a scared like a ghost.

    heavenly

i would say skip heavenly all together because that place is shit. I've heard good things but 8/10 times I've tried going there they would close the express to the top, basically not letting you ski anything worthwhile. I would recommend driving to Kirkwood which is about 30-40 minutes from...

Mammoth, Northstar, Squaw or somewhere else?

Go and stay in North Tahoe. That way you can ski several mountains for the whole 5 days you're here. I say Squaw, Alpine, Sugar Bowl, and drive down for Kirkwood and maybe Heavenly. All the other resorts suck ass unless you want park and shit, but why bother? You can ski that in the east.

how do you get to chad's from the bottom of alta?

It didn't seem like anyone gave you good directions to get there. Park at the very end of the upper parking lot above the Albion base. You'll see a really narrow gulch that will probably be all tracked out. Just hike or skin up through the gulch and keep looking at your lefthand side...

    parkcity v.s snowbird (UTAH)

    Karhu is amazing!!!

People thinking that all tele skis are noodles are just stupid. In fact because of Karhu, Line stiffened up the Mothership with the extra layers of titanal. And because of Karhu, Line has their Assassin ski. So if you think Karhu is 'ripping off' Line you would have to say Line is doing the...

    Clear skis.

i'm wondering if DB skis can do it. since they know how to make ski cores completely out of carbon fiber they may be able to do it with fiberglass which cures clear. with clear topsheet and base it may work.

    K2 Hippy Stinx

I've seen plenty of the hippy stinx mounted for alpine. In fact all the hippy stinx I've seen were mounted for alpine. I'm guessing there's no problem.
