    Tips for beginner in Backcountry

my thoughts exactly. hitting BC booters with ease definitely takes a lot of experience and skill. it's not as easy it seems.

    Co terrain vs tahoe terrain.

the cool thing about utah and mormons is that on sundays everyone's at church. meaning less people on the mountain...well, until the afternoon. utahns don't feel the need to defend our snow. everyone knows it's the best - it says so on our license plates.

    Spine protector?

just wondering what brands/models anyone would recommend. i know it sounds weak but after having a friend paralyzing himself (neck down) last year i think a little more protection couldn't hurt.

Do the nothin but troubles have side walls???

just because you sell skis doesn't mean you know your shit. i'm sure plenty of us have bought skis from a person/shop that don't know their shit. you obviously do not know your shit. capped skis are superior in their torsional rigidity. that's the whole point of the cap. during the pressing...

Finding people to ride with in Alta?

i'm surprised that you can't find others in the park that would be willing to build some BC kickers. maybe you should approach the older kids. but if you want to meet some folks who ride the backcountry head off the backside of Catherines (off the Supreme lift). the area is pretty safe and i...

Make your own skis with sliding inserts for bindings

instead of using the sliding inserts why not just use a pack of inserts like snowboards? it's much easier to fabricate, you don't have to deal with patents, and there's no rail to screw with the flex.

    Snowbird patrol

i was also considering the same thing a year back. from what i've heard from the bird patrollers is that it's pretty difficult to get a job there. everyone wants to patrol alta or bird, alta especially. i'd suggest heading over to solitude. the resort is just as nice and even better on powder...

Who else thinks Kent Krietler is an ass?

i totally agree. tanner's skiing is completely horrible. how is it possible this guy grew up skiing in montana? as for kent kreitler. he's too old for a lot the guys (or kids) on this site to respect. it's sad that the guys that paved the way for skiing get overlooked so quickly. kent...

    ITS SNOWING IN TAHOE!

i'm so glad to finally hear snow falling. on the news they're predicting snow at 6500ft in SoCal within the next few days. it's high but low enough to hit the mountains. hopefully we'll get what tahoe's getting.

    Powdwer leashes?

just make sure you tuck that shit up your pants. i can't stand trying to dodge all these god-damned streamers while standing in line. some people leave that shit laying 20 feet long behind them. where the hell are they skiing? Alaska times 40?

    Sleeping in your car

yeah dude sleeping in your car is fine. if you can do it try to remove all the seats and get a mummy sleeping bag if possible. a cheap portable tv ($20?) is also a good idea to kill time. i used to sleep in south lake tahoe every weekend. a good place to sleep is near the "Y" where all the...
