the other thing you can do if you really need a new set up is buy left overs. You can get last years invaders and fugatives for under 300 bucks from a few places... you can get a huge number of last years skis for well under 400... you can pick up a set of px12s for as low as 100 bucks in some...

not 100% true. you technically are on the mountains property... so you have to follow the mountains rules... so the power that the patrolers have to search you is if you refuse... then they can just take your pass and theres nothing you do. But if they do find something illegal... its probably...

yeah i know the tail is short... I didn't really get this to go switch. I have Scratch BC and K2 Seths if I want to go switch in pow... these are getting mounted at the recommended line and they are going to be more of a straight pow ski. Something to go fast and charge a little with.

dude go with the 179... you'll grow into it. more edge will help you on the east coast ice. they will be more stable at speeds. on the occasional pow day the extra surface area will float you better. and they are bambo so they are wicked like which means you wont have to worry about the swing...

You made some good points there especially with the slower part.. I agree that the waves probably generate more friciton because each wave has a leading edge sort of on the snow so slower makes sense. Baring that however... there is one simple reason why you have never seen this technology in...

armada and k2 along with others use die cut bases... so where it says armada or seth or k2 or whatever else are different color pieces of ptex cut out and put together like a puzzle.
