Ok so I have the t3i with kit lens... What are the best settings for taking ski pics ( or any action sports).

Hi, I got my t3i 2 days ago but it is really grainy...i have everything on manual... my shutter is at 30, my iso is 1600 and my f thing is 5.6... I have a 18-55mm kit lens??? help me get the best quality out of this camera!

Okay so i finally got my t3i but when i try to follow somebody, we vary in distance between each other because we dont keep the exact same speed... So how do i keep the lens focused on the object (person) while im moving along side them or behind etc... ?

... So my group that I film are all Freshman or younger. I would say we are a decent group of skiers and snowboarders (1080, backflips, cork 7) But there is another group of skiers and snowboarders at my local ski hill ( rock sports complex ( franklin WI))that talk so much shit about our style...
