What it comes down to, is how much do you really care about skiing? You will party more, know more people, and have easy access to home in Michigan. But Utah has a lot to offer if you really, seriously, like the outdoors. I don't think it would be hard to party here once a week and meet cool...

Realistically, resorts are more like 30-45 min, but that's still real close. Worrying too much about how much partying you're going to be doing is like the worst thing you can do.

I sure don't miss them at Alta. There are some good snowboarders, but most are slow and fall over unexpectedly. And there's no way they could handle the traverses. The high-T, ballroom, Devil's Castle, hell even Supreme bowl would all be a mess.
