I assume you're referring to the backside of Barker / Locke / White Cap. It has shitty exposure, doesn't hold snow and is pretty rocky. Also, there are some sudden drops with flat landings and trees. You can get mangled back there. Not to mention the hike back up sucks, unless you plan on...

Haul ropes are spliced together, not just welded end to end. When chairlifts are constructed or new haul ropes are strung, the overlap is usually pretty damn long.

I just watched that video, looks like chairs were removed (the grips would really fuck you up) and it wasn't that rad at all.

The technical term is "haul rope" and due to the fact that it is braided steel fibers it would be extremely difficult and dangerous. I think someone has been playing too much amped.

As far as the atmosphere goes... Most of us have moved on.
