I hope the fire gets contained and stopped soon...sooo sad for all those people in south lake.
Props to all the brave firefighters out there working hard to stop it. I hope for the best.
Stinson is usually pretty small, but if you are willing to drive up the coase there is some good stuff. I like stinson for the atmosphere-a lot of people to hang with plus it's close to my house.
More then 5, there are lots of us that ride all the time from Davis. I go up every weekend and carry a full workload-you're bound to find friends here to ride with.
I tried the no-poles thing last sunday, I prefer skiing with poles because to me it feels more comfortable/natural. I say do whatever feels best for you
I'm not sure about that, you are young but it seems like a short term solution. Without repairing it you could have long term problems when you're older (arthritis, or just not full use of your knee, etc)
It's soo much fun, it's a release of sorts. No worries, no cares outside of skiing-based stuff, plus I'm addicted to the adrenaline rush you get from shralping a sick line or landing a certain trick, etc.
I jumped it also with calskierx-pictures to go up somepoint in the near future. It was pretty awesome, though considering there are miles of it the part you are thinking of is probably somewhere else nearby.
The global warming thing is up in the air for me-I hear too much from both sides. However I do think people need to treat the environment better. For major changes, we need more government involvement but on a small level just walk/bike more, carpool, if you can afford it drive more fuel...
I was at Alpine yesterday and it was pretty damn awesome. I love Squaw though too-but if it's the morning after a storm get in line at like 7:30 in the morning if you want first tracks.
