its not a good idea, they are designed to work together. The only way I would think of someone doing it is if the are from the same line but maybe a different din, but even then im not sure why they would do it.

definetly not to big for EC, a friend of my who's opinion i hold very high rode them all last year and loved them. He is 5' 10" 160 and a very aggressive skier.

It has some insulation, its not a parka by any means, but more then a shell, I would wear a thermal and a long sleeve if i were wearing it in the winter in cold temperatures.

probably true, but I dont think that 1cm will make a substantial difference for msot people.
