    Burton gets owned

Oh here we go, another one of those people claiming that Alta "would be shitty on a snowboard anyway". Spare me. I've skied Alta, many times, and there is no substance to that claim whatsoever. Alta-holics claim like it's the only hill in the known universe that has these magical things known...

Winter dew tour - best thing happened to freeskiing so far

Riders list not announced yet, but it is the same people selecting the riders for this and X-Games, so expect it to be pretty much the same list. And hey, I thought SNOW was the best thing that happened to freeskiing so far!

    Burton gets owned

I thought the contest was a great idea. Those discriminatory (yep I said it) resorts are perfect examples of all that is still wrong with the ski industry. Sure Jake Burton is about as corporate as it gets, and no he is not a "rebel". But at least he got a lot of people to poach those stupid...

C'mon pipe skiing has to be in.....

Riiiiight bud., companies love to throw millions of dollars into unpopular athletes and sports that no one cares about. Just cause you don't care about it sure doesn't mean that it is unpopular or unknown.

C'mon pipe skiing has to be in.....

Wow! Can you be that uninformed that you really believe that? You couldn't be more wrong. Phelps was a millionaire by 18, currently pulls in 5 million a year, and is projected to be worth 10 million per year following these Olympics...

If you can ski Moguls, You can ski ANYTHING

"10 or more years of heavy competitive" ski racing will also wear and tear your knees, in many cases worse than moguls. Same could be said for 10 or more years of park skiing at a heavy competitive level. If you learn proper technique, mogul skiing does not damage your knees any more than any...

If you can ski Moguls, You can ski ANYTHING

Not all mogul skiers do pencil spins with their arms out, watch someone like Mike Henitiuk sometime, who does super sick 7 mutes and cork 10s. Or watch Toby Dawsons run from the last Olympics (cork 7 tail grab). I would venture a guess that Henitiuks style in his mogul air tricks, is...

If you can ski Moguls, You can ski ANYTHING

Wow, what a misguided post. Of course mogul skiing at a competitive level has an inherent risk of knee injury, but that is true of EVERY type of high level skiing. Learning to ski moguls properly (with effective absorption) is no harder on the knees than any other type of skiing (although it...

Does momentum actually make you wear a helmet

Nice try, but that is completely beside the point, since tons of people wearing seatbelts still die of head injuries in car crashes, and helmets would save lots of them. But since nobody wears helmets in cars, the idea seems ridiculous, doesn't it? Just like wearing a helmet on the trampoline...

Does momentum actually make you wear a helmet

Now that is how I define smart... that is a perfect way to look at it.

Does momentum actually make you wear a helmet

That's correct, although it's not much of an argument because people do still die from tramp head injuries. And if you want to use that logic, then you could also say that car crashes are potentially more deadly than skiing head injuries, so by your logic you should wear a helmet whenever you...

Does momentum actually make you wear a helmet

From a neuroscience paediactric study on trampolines: "The majority of injuries involved children between 5 and 15 years old. Although injuries to the leg, foot, arm and hand were most common, 14% of the injuries were to the head or face. About 15% of all head injuries involved fractures...

Does momentum actually make you wear a helmet

Naaw, that's not what I was getting at. I guess I should have said that I DO think wearing a helmet is a good idea. I was just trying to point out the differences in perception and "perceived danger". It's like when people are super scared to bungy jump (a safe activity) but not at all scared...

Does momentum actually make you wear a helmet

All due respect, but just for the sake of debate, you realize that there are quite a few sports where people do "huck themselves over and onto stuff harder than their heads" without helmets. - Trampoline (lots of people get head injuries from hitting the frame) - Gymnastics (Bars, Vaults, etc)...

Does momentum actually make you wear a helmet

No, not really. But in time more will, mostly because as the current pros retire, they will be replaced by the ones who grew up with helmets on. It is now a socially accepted practice, and soon it will probably be a law, unfortunately. It's funny how many parents think it's absolutely insane...

OK time to find a proper name for this trick

Interesting, I didn't realize that nose and tail presses were rollerblading tricks. And I suppose butter 5s must have been invented by rollerbladers too.
