The skis can be mounted to way big moutain or big air, in big air position the ski is actually going backwards, if your freind told him he was doin jumps or like freestyle, they most likely got mouted this way

a good size, i'm 5'9 and 145lbs, andi ride the 172's but would get the 181 if i got new ones

personaly i'm only 140 and i like very stiff ski, and no i wasn't a racer
