soft skis tend to bounce around on hardpack, and are not as able to bomb it down a steep icy slope or through crud.
too stiff? well ive never had a ski thats too stiff so i dunno, i guess if you're into park then you cant butter on a stiff ski

anyone here worked for Ruapehu Alpine lifts?
whats working in the snow school like? what about say rentals or something? do you get much on snow time? are they good people to work for generally?
i beg to differ. long as its steep enough a skinny ski still flies.
but anyway its useless debating this as im gonna have to buy a fat ski cos thats pretty much all there is heh
i see tonnes of people on fat skis and almost none of them do rails (at least where ive skied)
ive done rails on my non-freestyle skis and got strange looks from snowboarders. i guess it would be a bit harder cause they are skinner
