Upgraded brakes was assuming he'd do the engine mods first. Upgradin it is not as important until your car has increased in horsepower by a considerable amount. But once it does, consider it a protection on your investment.

Don't do the paint/wheels/spoilers. Put all money into performance. Chip, cam, exhaust, airflow, suspension, brakes, tires.

Haha. I grew up skiing those mountains too (Bear and Blue mostly), then moved to CO. I used to hear the same shit then about which mountain was better. Its all good. Do the best with what you got and by all means try to get out West. It will put some things in perspective.
Damn, nobody has said anything about boots. A good pair of boots is going to be the first thing you want to buy. Do a search or go to a ski shop that is known for having good bootfitters.
I have the titaniums as my only ski. I love them except for ice and groomers. Good thing I never ski ice and groomers unless I am traversing to another part of the mountain (unless you include the park as icy and groomed).
